Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I'm curious. What did you do when the engine ran away? How did you shut it off?I've had my Deuce for 5 years now and I've barely done anything with it. It has set on my farm and last year when I started it it ran away. So a few weeks ago I finally got off my butt and started the process of getting up to my house. Had to dump the fuel, change the oil, fix the injector pump which was only $300 and got it hauled from Southeast Ohio to northeast Ohio. Still need to replace front boots and a class 2 leak on an axle.
Do you mean so you can replace it?Pulled the engine shutoff
When it started it came on full throttle. I hit the pedal a few times thinking something was stuck with no response so, I pulled the shutoff. Waited a few seconds to try to restart it and it wouldn't. The injector shop said it was locked up from the fuel. I'm embarrassed to say the diesel was orange when we drained it.
Let's see:Both of the trucks I bought had orange diesel too, one ran like poop and the other had a stuck HH plunger from it.
OUCH!I was helping a friend with a tree problem today and was happy to say I was able to help.... that is of course after my deuce paid the price
Nope... at least not untill it has a little motivation from a sledge. Safe to say I'm the market for a new tailgate possibility for a new dropside bed for a good dealOUCH!
Does the gate still drop?

I'll echo Ahab's "OUCH!"Nope... at least not untill it has a little motivation from a sledge. Safe to say I'm the market for a new tailgate possibility for a new dropside bed for a good deal

That happened to mine too. Try taking it off and running over it with the truck a couple times. It got the bend down to a manageable level so that it is still functional. Not pretty but good enough for now. Of course if you're going to get a new one a lot of work to take it off and on twice, but if you have to wait a while...Nope... at least not untill it has a little motivation from a sledge. Sorry about your tailgate, but that picture is almost worth it!This might be a better picture of what did the damage ha never would have thought a little bush could cause such harm. The wife thought it was pretty amusing. View attachment 687212

Hind sight is 20/20, but I would have used long straps or just pushed it over with the front bumper. This might be a better picture of what did the damage ha never would have thought a little bush could cause such harm. The wife thought it was pretty amusing. View attachment 687212

When pushing a tree, make contact at the bumper mount point(s). Using the center of the bumper could merely make your bumper look like that tailgate.Hind sight is 20/20, but I would have used long straps or just pushed it over with the front bumper.
Well we can easily say that I've learned my lesson Maybe...When pushing a tree, make contact at the bumper mount point(s). Using the center of the bumper could merely make your bumper look like that tailgate.
.
Maybe.... Just maybe, you can get away with telling folks that your "Custom Tailgate" is a new TOP SECRET aerodynamic design for HIGH SPEED OPERATIONS. Maybe...Well we can easily say that I've learned my lesson Maybe...
