Hi guys! You can blame me for the cold weather. I took my winter front off and unplugged Brutus' block heater last week. I haven't been working on Brutus, because I'm starting to fabricate a steel flatbed for my 1952 Dodge truck "Major Motion". Next, I have to run new fuel and brake lines so I can get him out on the driveway and work in the sun. Whenever it appears that is. I'll start on Brutus' new fenders after I make a few spring nursery and lawncare supply runs with him. Glad to see everyone is well and keeping busy.
.
Hi Owen!

That is looking really sharp! Nice round lines like a real truck should have...
Sure would be neat to see if from the front - next time the sun comes out. :)

Projects help keep us all busy. Sure hope we have a real Spring this year with some warm weather rather than jumping straight into summer. Glad to hear that you have been busy too...

@Dipstick

Thank you! I really appreciate it! It's been a lot of work and they've both come a long way despite the challenges of working on them in the open, on gravel and being at the mercy of Mother Nature.

Things get very stagnant during the winter for the girls other than to perform necessary maintenance and get in some small upgrades and other minor non-critical fixes as I don't have indoor shop accommodations for them and winters at the farm can be brutal. However, after the fields are harvested this fall, the plan is to start on the groundwork for something to permanently remedy that situation for them (and for me!) ;)
I fully understand. I do the same minus the farming and the fact that I substitute crumbling asphalt for gravel. I hope you can achieve a pole barn or something in the near future!

0921171435-00.jpgHi Tim! Yeah, I'll have to take a front shot. I should have the fenders and nose back on this Summer I hope. Meanwhile, here is a grainy picture of the 302 Ford I built and swapped in. It has a General Kinetics 262/272 camshaft. Forged aluminum pistons. Semi-roller rockers. Melling oil pump. Hei distributor. Eldelbrock intake manifold with a Holley 600 carb with manual choke. It sounds AWESOME through glasspacks!!! I apologize to everyone for the non-Deuce related post.

1952 rebuild on a dodge truck ? ……… for me and my pea sized brain that is deff worthy of a non deuce post . Just take a pic of that truck and have Brutus in the back ground ! lol
this site’s members here and all the work on military trucks , It Just bleeds over to other projects on other parts of the “tinkering” hobby.
keep us posted on the progress of the red project ,putting new life in an old piece of machinery is alot of work and a big feeling of accomplishment.

we are in WY now and trying to work out transport of the deuce , not a good time with the fuel prices ,but it has to happen !
i sold the tractor in NY for what i paid for it ,and bought one out here Fri .
that helped simplify things a little bit. I was lucky to find a low hr used tractor here.

Glad to hear you're out in WY now! Good news about the tractor too! Keep us informed about developments out there. When I had my Deuce transported by an owner operator with a single drop flatbed from Idaho to NJ back in 2012 it cost me $2,500. The guy cut me a break as he was hauling tank barrels to NJ for machining. Both loads fit perfectly on his trailer. Yeah, when you do a complete driveline swap like I did, there are a million problems you run into. Nobody makes performance or engine swap parts for old Dodge trucks and you can't find body parts anywhere. It took me 30 years to find the left rear leaf spring! The original one was badly bent. He spent 15 years untouched in a garage until way after my divorce and I'm just getting back into it now. Should have been done decades ago. Takes some snaps of your progress out there and best of luck in WY!!!

Had a leaking seal on the right front tandem of my Deuce. I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with new inner and outer seals, and grease resistant silicone rubber in the keyway. A motorcycle jack makes placing the hub back on the spindle very easy.

I installed the remote reservoir for the brake master. I put it inside the cab instead of outside. I also installed two side pull air tank drain valves so I don't have to climb under the truck anymore! I also know have a full set of 6 M35a3 wheels to super single my truck. I am pretty excited about that I just need tires now.

When I made the conversion to the 11.00R20 G177's on my old girl, I quickly got tired of trying to remember the old vs. new speed conversions as my focus needs be on driving and keeping an eye on the gauges and not on something that I can have easily calculated and displayed for me.

Originally, I tried a phone-based app but as my phone holder is to the right of the gauge panel it was really out of my line of sight and not in a good location at all for me to keep my eyes on the road and it just didn't "work" for me...

So I ordered a simple GPS speedometer (24V capable to make powering it up simple) and a gauge pod and mounted them right on top of my pyro display on the steering column. Perfect location directly in my line of sight. I no longer need to try to calculate speeds in my head and I can focus on the more important matters. I got a red backlit model so it matches with my girls' other red gauges and readouts as it should be. I mounted a magnet to the GPS receiver and I have it sitting on the dash on the drivers' side just inside the window. No need to mount the receiver outside the cab. Lots of glass around so it gets perfect reception there.

Simple, quick install and an effective solution. I am very happy with it and keeps my attention where it should be...

G'day everyone,.....

G'day everyone,.....

Just ordered a new set of bow storage straps for my Deuce.

The ones I had, or what was left of them were rotten.

Took them off a while ago, the new ones will look awesome, that and having a full set.

You know what they say about the little things that make a big difference,.....

Aussie.

Well today the new set of bow straps ARRIVED!

Its been a long journey.

You see they were sent ok but got held up in Callifailure and then sent back to the sender,...

usps.jpg

Anyway after finding this out I had it sent to a friend in the US, (wait,... what!?? he has friends in the US??) he held onto it until whatever issue cause the hold up cleared, so after a few weeks I had my friend send it to me and today it arrived!

I love the little soldiers! I remember having a bucket with hundreds of soldiers in it as a kid.

I know its a small thing but they are the touches that make a big difference.

Thanks Green Iron Road Wear for your help with the disruption in the delivery.

G'day everyone,...

Well while out in the workshop I decided to fit the new bow retaining straps.

The original straps:

And the new fitted:

There is supposed to be another set on the other side but on my Deuce they are missing so I'll get the rod and fit it.

So I guess now I need the rod for the new straps for the other side, dose anyone have one?

They are to restrain the bows under the bed where they are stored when not in use.

In this picture you can see where the uprights are stored along the front of the bed while the bows are stored under the front of the bed.

Brilliant is'nt it!??
