I finally did it!! I bought my first Deuce, a M35A3 from Ft. Benning. Paid a little extra, but it seemed clean for me, and the quality was there. Two front tires leak slightly and only pump up to 21 pounds. Got another thread started earlier today about parts needed to cap it in the field, where I hope to fully repair it at home after the recovery.

I am puffy chested proud! Thanks to that special fella out in Columbus who did a preview for me and passed on all the right information. Not mentioning his name without permission, but he is a special SSer. And EVERYONE here knows him.

Will make the recovery in July after the EUC clears. Top riunning condition with no leaks, outside a very small one on the driver side front tire. It's almost dry.

Hooray!!!!!! See you at the Georgia Ralley! I'll be camping and probably drunk as a skunk. And I never get drunk anymore. Doesn't agree with me. Party ON!

M105a2 from FT. Drum. Second time I tried to bid on one... paid less than half of what the first one went for... patience, young Jedi.

Plus I lived there in the mid-70's... gonna try and find the house we live in ... the Blizzard of 77 was awesome!

I was in disbelief with the numbers on the M35A2C in SanAntonio.... That's A3 prices. Got some electronics out of OK City. 4 each oscillators. Lost out on other stuff, also got another big old airconditioner.

2 command tents at Eglin.

I'm looking for help picking them up and possibly delivered to the Ga rally, or towards Ohio or NY.

PF, if you need help with Ft Drum, I'm 55 miles South of it. I can pickup and store here.

I'm going the opposite way to N. Ala. next week to pick up two M101A2s but I'll look at Eglin for a non-EUC buy next week too and if I get anything I'll pick up and hold for you. There is a fella down at Eglin working there that helps out with pickups every now and then. Maybe he will respond and I should be able to pick up before Oct. and get it to the Rally if he doesn't go. Keep in touch.

Several M35A2s out of Atlanta went for less than $2K bid in unknown condition. Mostly 60's models and kinda rough, but at scrap prices.

I bought one of the A2's out of Ft Gillem, Atlanta today. Drove up from Tampa area Tuesday and previewed them yesterday. Several were very rough in the pictures, and in person. Whoever got 6052 got a good truck except it has no brakes. The front left wheel is really wet so I'm guessing bad wheel cylinder. There was no cargo cover in the picture but it is there, folded up in the bed (bonus!). Has steel battery box and old syle drivers seat. The is about 50% of a rusted out very old steel beer can in the bottom of the fuel tank...I bought 6051, a pleasent surprise in person. The hood and fenders are rough looking as is the paint inside of the cab. All cosmetic. HOWEVER, it has many new brake lines and universal joints, new cab top and cargo cover, new passenger door, engine has a Toole 7/88 tag on it, and brakes. I talked to an ex GI mechanic and he guessed it had just had it's annual which probably includes new brakes and repack bearings. With freight rates sky high this may be my first attempt at a "recovery". The other Dueces I've bought I've had trucked in. I will be starting a thread soon looking for someone in middle Georgia where I can stop and change fuel filters etc....I was in Ft Gillem last year and there were probably 75 trucks, yesterday maybe 12. I think we are getting to the end of them. There used to be more than 100 on GL at all times, now not too many...Buy them while you can.

DH, I could get them when I pick up mine in a couple of weeks. Any one know about what size the crates the are in?

If they are in the crates still, the crate will be about 7 feet long, probably 3 foot square at the ends and weigh in at about 300 pounds.

Congrats on the tents guys, I was looking hard at them, but I already have 2 of them, and I scored a lot full of stuff in OKC on tuesday that ate up a lot of my disposable cash.
