Crawled back under my truck today and checked the air lines for the front wheel drive lock in, they were connected wrong, just as in the other thread about how to check and see if front wheels were engaged or not. Before I swapped the lines in question I followed the checks and my truck failed, so I swapped the lines and she did just as she is supposed to, buildup full air pressure, jack up 1 front wheel and give it a spin, if lines are correct with transfer case in high range and front wheel switch on dash in "out" wheel and drive shaft will spin. While I was under there I pulled off the big washer that locks in front wheels when shifting into low range, now I can just select it on the dash. This also fixed my issue with not being able to shift into low range.

Gathering parts for it's airbrake conversion. 816 is in hibernation for now. m52a2 sitting next to it will become a trailer probably during the summer.

Pulled my speedometer cable just to find out it was good afterall. Following the TM can get costly sometimes. So I took the drill and hooked it to the gearbox input drive, hooked the old speedometer that I recently changed out to the cable and it worked (with the drill in reverse) off and on as I wiggled the drill. So I took the speedometer gearbox apart and found four sloppy bushings.

I just put a washer on each shaft and put it back together and the slop was gone. I spun it's drive by hand to make sure it wasn't too tight and it felt a bit tight so I made a gasket to serve as a spacer under the parts that thread it together. Took it back apart and greased it all up and back together. Test drive showed it to work with no speedometer bounce.

That really bites; sorry for the disaster.

But the way you wrote that was funny (I mean for me, but not for you). It was the progression; it went rapidly from:

- Total destruction.

They arent bad. They are meant to be done in the field. I can have one out in around an hour. That includes pulling the bed. Hardest part is getting the bed back on. A transfer case on a 931 takes me around 2hrs start to finish. Nothing to it.
