The resistor will get hot. Smoke from it means something flammable is on the resistor coils.Did the GP resistor bypass today. Started the truck yesterday and during the glow plug cycle a bunch of smoke came out from under the hood Yep fried resistor.
If it comes down to it. I'll try to find a die tomorrow at work. I'm almost certain I can since this is a former military truck after all.Maybe see if a local alternator rebuilding shop can chase the threads for you?
If you bypassed the resistor, then how is it receiving power?
