What have you done to your CUCV today/lately?

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365374240.137354.jpg relocated my Ram Tablet Mount from my Silverado to the M1009. The Silverado has to get sold to make room for a M35A2. Anyone looking for a 2005 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab Long Bed?

^ Wow that's pretty cool. What do you run on the tablet while you're in the truck?
You mean besides Steel Soldiers ;-) (look closely at the picture). Navigon Mapping or Waze depending if I have cell coverage or not. Also great for browsing while waiting or taking a break at work. Often check my email before I leave traveling between local (15-30 minutes) facilities. Eventually, I'll have my Amateur Radio APRS data system running which also maps. Lets me know what other APRS users are active and where. Oh yeah, the M1009 TM's are on there too.

In the past there was some banter about the weight of the 6TL (70#) causing inner fender well cracks on that rear battery mount. Dual optimas is about 10# more than that so consider this when choosing what tray to use. It would be nice to relocate the fronts so that you and utilize the cold air induction that the civy trucks used.

Installed an LMC tailgate window regulator. Took about 20 minutes. Works great.

If you pickup the Civy Battery Mount and the Cixy Aux Battery Mount you could do this...here's mine...(will also require relocating overflow jug or using a Civy overflow jug

Fixed the wiper motor on the M1008A1. They now park. Connections are nice and clean. Lubed up the internal mechanism. The wipers now run at "normal" speed.

Used the washer pump rebuild kit from Anco picked up on RockAuto. Works great. Need to change the filter on the end of the intake hose.

The whole job took about an hour, minus family interruptions.

Next up, I need 2 tilt columns from mid 80's trucks, in part to assist the wife in getting comfy behind the wheel, and also to get intermittent (pulse) wipers.
You will need a pulse wiper motor as well. I did this mod on mine last year. Had a parts truck 87 crew cab and swapped motors and the pump inside the washer jug, also swapped to the washers on the wiper arms at the same time...see my swap pics here:

Successfully Heli-coiled the starter bolt holes on the shadetree 09. One of the POs tried to use 3/8 threaded rod as starter bolts and buggered the threads so bad I had to drill out the holes and start over.

Thanks Marcus, It actually went pretty well. I used my Ryobi cordless drill, low n slow with plenty of cutting oil. Threaded the holes and installed the Heli-coils. The bolts threaded in nice and tight, and before I knew it, I was done. No blood loss or contusions were experienced during the course of this repair. :hammer:

Trying to locate a 7/8" hex wrench (looks like I'll have to make one), and that special tool to help with the hub disassembly so I can attemp my first king pin rebuild. I'm really hoping I do it all right.

I bought a three inch piece on 7/8" hex stock at my local metal supply store used a socket a breaker bar and a piece of pipe about six feet long over the breaker bar to get the king pins to break loose. The socket for the wheel bearing nut I bought at napa. You need it to torque the bearings properly! Found a Allen wrench after I did mine at a tool town type store it wasn't cheap. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip on Napa. I think I'm going to get some DOM tubing and hex stock when I get a chance this weekend. I've never taken apart an axle before so its going to be interesting to say the least.
