.I did my first oil change. I have never been worried about starting a vehicle after I drain the oil but the whole time until I got oil in it that was heavily on my mind. I had to stop after I drained it and get a filter wrench that fit and some brake cleaner and a copper washer. Had to get my Son from school on the way home. Finally got back to it and that horizontal filter is a mess and I had oil to my elbow. I couldn’t believe how many threads the housing has. I poured 12 ounces of oil in the filter, don’t know if it helps but it helps me. Got the new filter on and drain plug in and added oil. I was surprised that it took what seemed like forever to build oil pressure. Next change will be smoother I hope. I just can’t do things like I use to be able to do. Everything is hard nowadays and seems like it takes forever to get anything done. I still like doing my own stuff because I know it’s done right and nobody cares more about my stuff than me. Oil was clean that came out and drain plug had a coating of fine particles nothing you could feel just a different color and I believe it’s the first time oil has been changed since new.
Sometimes I just lay under my truck trying to get the Umph to get up and when I do I must look like a turtle on its back. I will keep at it as long as I can and Im blessed because I have arms legs and fingers. They don’t always work like I want them to but I got them! I have nothing to complain about other than Father Time and bad decisions taking it’s toll. Hahaha.
Good for you and good for your truck too! Glad to hear that everything worked out well.
You are right on the money with your point about fixing your own stuff. Nobody will ever care as much about your stuff as you! Don't know how the weather is where you are - but the heat lately has been pretty brutal. Between the heat and me getting a little older, I too have figured out that things take longer than it used to. Climbing in and out from under the truck is more effort now days too. I remember rolling out, jumping up and running to the toolbox. Now days it is more like crawl out, sit up, grab something to pull up with, then amble to the tool box... (could be worse though!)
Guess if you are having fun doing, you can't ask for much more than that!
Happy Wrench Turning

I have a creeper and I want to get over the top creeper. I can’t explain it but this is probably the worst looking vehicle I have ever owned and probably the best mechanically so far. It’s consuming my last dime but I still feel like I fell into a barrel of titties! I love this thing so much. Hahaha is there a support group for my addiction? I think I spent less when I was hooked on hookers and blow! Lol.
I am with you! Yes sir, things that I did as a youngster sound like some of yours. Best thing I have done recently since I work in the back yard has been the addition of a couple of thick pieces of big cardboard. I can slide on that easier than dirt or concrete.
Thinking seriously about adding a piece of plywood. That and a creeper.
Glad to know that isn't only me!

Gaskets are inexpensive… well worth changing if oldI ordered new windshields from genuinehumveeparts or something like that. They are having free shipping until the 6th I believe. 83.66 to my door, Seems like a good deal and mine are sand pitted really bad and a rock chip/ crack in the drivers side. I didn’t get new gaskets because I wanted to see if mine are useable
Cheapest I have found is 39.00 and seems expensive compared to 41.00 for the glass.Gaskets are inexpensive… well worth changing if old

Maybe so. I will probably just get the 39.00 ones once my windshields ship. I think the windshields are so cheap they make the gasket sound expensive. Lol if windshields were 300.00 gaskets sounds cheap at 39.00.
Ouch! Yes sir, I have to agree that the same money almost for the gasket seems high. It may that I'm just talking aimlessly, but you would think that a piece of rubber might be less expensive than a piece of glass.
I bought some rubber gaskets from one of our members here for my M936.
Might not happen, but I wonder if anybody here has a stash of seals for your windows?
That might be a possibility. Maybe in the Parts Wanted section of our Classifieds section?
Flip them over, use the right side on the left etc. then the unexposed side is out, black butyl rubber sealer.I ordered new windshields from genuinehumveeparts or something like that. Great idea. I was wondering if I need sealer or not. It looks like it has in now. What a mess that will be. You have any suggestions on what brand to use? I’m sure some are more user friendly than others.Flip them over, use the right side on the left etc. then the unexposed side is out, black butyl rubber sealer.
