i am not a diesel expert!
but neer i can tell any bypass pressure causes oil mist to mix in fuel?
Causing a higher head temp...
could cause head gasket failure....
This theory was on a Ford forum....with a newer Diesel engine...
An engine that might be picky to such things.
The 6.2l J series might not be so picky....
The Ford forum stated CDR failure was the #1 cause of blown head gaskets.
I'd be leary about going without. THERE HAS TO BE AN ALTERNATIVE to the GM part!
Im not an expert.....just looking for a spare CDR VALVE!
