I am trying to convince my dad to get a deuce and turn it into a camper. What is the average price they go for on GL? I tried searching but it's hard to do on a phone.

That's kind of like asking "how long is a piece of string?" There isn't enough information to give you a good answer. Do you want a winch? Hard top, soft top? A2 or A3 (big difference in price there). How far do you want to drive or have it towed?

Last year you could get a running, drivable A2 for under $750 at times. Other times you couldn't touch a ratty looking one for under $1500.

And if you're looking to make a camper a M109 would probably be easier to do that to than a M35 (again different prices for 109s).

Your best bet is just to watch the auctions and see what they go for tomorrow (sales end at 5pm Eastern).

I vote we get a better filter for repeat posts.
I vote that the next contract for surplus sales be required to keep and publish the prices for demil B, F, and Q items.

If Government Liquidation was were not so secretive these questions would not keep coming up.

I think they would. You know why? Because guys would still have to look for the answers. That requires effort. I say that with 100% certainty because even watching GL counts as searching and people obviously have not done that or else they would not ask. They would rather ask for the answers than put in the time to figure out what to bid. I can say with certainty that I learned the values of vehicles by bidding (and losing). Guys want the quick fix...tell me the answer to question 7...rather than reading the whole book. H***, a casual glance at the deuce forum would reveal similar threads if one looked back more than a few days.

Well you guys seem to be a bunch of a$$holes.
Hey I tried to answer your question!

The problem for the guys who have been around a while, is that we see the same basic questions over and over and over, eventually it gets to people. Everyone has a breaking point.

Ideally we should have a *READ THIS FIRST - FAQ* in "The Deuce" section like a lot of automotive websites.

Regardless, I hope you can understand.

I'm breaking dude!

I spent a year and a half, everyday, studying, reading, on this site before I bought a
deuce.
Watch GL, study it nationwide carefully and study this site and the wisdom will come to you Luke.
Patience is short in this one Gimby.

How many forums are you on? Ever had a new guy come on and ask a question that has been asked a million times?
Probably not, some people really don't spend a lot of time around forums, and they don't know.

Its fine, everyone learns. I have run many internet forums, I try to see things from every angle.

So if everyone can just take a deep breath, it would do everyone some good.

To be honest, they are worth whatever you're willing to pay. It really doesn't matter what everybody else has paid. It doesn't take much looking at all to find out what retail prices are and you can base you're price accordingly. Just jump in there and bid and see if you win or not. As it has been said, the price can vary wildly from auction to auction and at different locations. I've seen junkers bring over 2K and nice trucks bring 1K. I've also seen nice trucks bring over 4K.

Past Bid History

I go on GL and create a watch list for vehicles I am interested in. I also write down the Event and Item numbers to check back on the past bid history since GL does not transfer watched items to a close watch list like they say they do. You will be able to see the whole spectrum of sales numbers.

Hmmm...I'm one of the a-holes because I don't feel like simply spoonfeeding you the simple answer that you want. Do your D A M N homework! I had to. Others apparently learned this way. You want something...figure it out. Watch the auctions. Simply suggesting that is probably giving you more help than you deserve based upon your crappy attitude.

For all the energy you spent complaining about repeated questions you could have just answered the question! You rant on and on about searching. Take a chill pill! No one forced you to read the thread! Not everyone is good at searching this forum. Sometimes I have problems with finding the right threads because I may have not typed in the proper terms to get the results I was looking for. Some members like Clinto have a naac for searching the forum.

I do not read all the new posts because some just don't interest me. Maybe you should try that instead of being negative all the time! Some people seem to always see the negative side of things.

To answer the ORIGINAL question: I just got a M109 Truck for $1400 that looks to be in good shape but i have not seen it in person yet! I have had good luck with the MVs I have won on GL and drove them both home. That doesn't say that all of them out there are drivable off the GL lot.

Glad you said it before I did!

A rough looking truck with missing soft top and no bed cover should go about $900.

A pretty truck with hard top, winch, fold down sides and a heater should go for about $2700

The US region, number of trucks for sale and time of year can affect these estimates by about 20%.

An important consideration is the after successful bidding: The 10% premium, sales taxes and transport fees can easily exceed the purchase price.

I did not listen to some good advise about buying locally where I can inspect the truck and reduce transport costs. Now I recommend buying locally.

Before bidding, you can search the SS Deuce forum archives and gather more useful info about the trucks. This site also has the technical manuals for repairs and maintenance. You can read about what to take with you when it's finally time to go get your truck off base.

Welcome and best wishes with your interest in these old beasts. They are a blast!

Rick
