what is the "fuel pacer" light?

Drove the "new" truck around a little. Took some work to get lights, horn and reverse lights working. They had a bunch of the normal wires spliced into what must have beden the emergency lights.

Question is, what is the fule pacer light. It is on all the time. I did a search and found some info on old dodges with fender lights that came on when you floored the gas.

The fuel pacer is a product of the 70's. It was found on optioned out mopar vehicles. It was just a vacuum sensor that turned on a idiot lite or the left fender top signal lite. Its purpose was to sense low manifold vacuum which translated to excessive throttle which translated to wasted gas. Whoever worked on your truck probbly stuck the transfer case lock lite in the wrong hole. Happens a lot.

the power for the horn,running lights , brake lights, turn signals ( and I believe the back up light also ) run threw the turn signal switch in the steering collum. This switch in noted for going bad and people do weird things to get lights to the back of the truck. if this switch is bad it could be the cause of all the splicing, you might want to keep an eye out for another one if you suspect the turn signal switch being the main problem...
