What is this for?

I just installed my new (to me) aluminum tank on my A2. There is a small fitting between the fuel probe and the pump not labeled in this pic. It takes a 3/4" pipe plug. My steel tanks have a smaller plug in them. Does this get plugged or is it for a vent or something else? Everything else is identified and connected.

5/6 is the return. My other tank did not have a vent. Should they?

The key here may be this. What is the NSN for the tank that is SUPOSED to be on your model truck, and what is the NSN for the tank you installed?

The vent is the little line next to the output line. Goes to atmosphere via the air cleaner.

The other is the fuel return.

That's why the UOC is in the TM. Compare the UOC to the model truck he has, and then look at the TM to see if that part is compatible to the UOC for his truck.

It is for the Artic heater.
I used that fitting removed as part of a variable return line
from my fuel filter invention.
Filter output thru 3 micron, never had to change filters again, ever.
