Where did trailer safety chains hook up on USMC jeeps?

No eye bolts or safety chain plate on M38A1's the trailer chains would hook to the lift rings inside the bumperettes, but USMC M38A1's moved the lift rings to the outer lip of the rear bumper after reinforcing it, so the trailer chains would not reach out that far, so, just curious, as they left the pintle hitch in place and removed the lift rings and brackets from the rear crossmember, so where did the chains connect to the jeep?

Due to fed budget, the USMC always got the bottom end .. Perhaps there's no safety chains on trailers the USMC received back then (re: budget) .. Besides, my WW2 marine uncle used to always say there was no such thing as a safe marine

Did the instructions for the USMC kit require the bumperette rear tiedowns to be discarded? I don't recall that.
