where can I find a new 24 volt starter for my m1028

If a rebuilt is OK, contact Mike at OD Iron. His rebuilt alternators that I bought work great.

I'll probably purchase a starter to have a spare. Never hurts to have it sitting on the shelf, in case the starter fails.

Try Paramore Surplus in Florida

It is a gear reduction type, much better. You will need a different front support bracket, the new style.

ok I could not find paramore surplus online I did find the starter from od iron but the cost is 268 bucks ouch

Ditto what NDT said. I have a gear reduction on my 84 and it works great. The existing supports work fine. I bought a spare for when my old one goes on the 85.
