Where's Your License Plate?

Hi all, i am new here. i mounted my tag on top of my bumper. it is secured to a eighties oldsmobile tag mount that covered the fuel fill. i mounted a rubber wheel to the back of it, it is spring loaded so it moves down and back up with the tailgate.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea, Keeps it out of the way...got any pics???

My plates are where the leagal requirement require them. Front and rear! And do not forget, our plates are more than double the size of yours!

I have mine in my glove box. I was pulled over only once and boy oh boy what that cop embarassed when I showed him proof I dont have to display it along with all the other local cops showing up once they heard that a rookie had the balls to pull me over. Well that rookie only waves at me and smiles when he sees me now.lol
But in Florida, you dont have to display the tags. it ruins the military aspect. But you have to have it in the truck.
Im the only one around here with Deuces so everyone knows me and not one cop will ever pull me over again. That is unless they hire another rookie. lol

I bought a led license plate light from advance auto parts for $15.00 its pretty bright at night i can see it when i back up lol

I bought the trailer light kit with tag holder at local auto parts store. It has LED light and works really well. I drilled through the bumper for 2 bolts and drilled wire hole where I put a grommett in to protect and neatly finish the job. COnnected to running lights and works great. I sanded the cover and painted to match....

Mounted mine on the left of the rear bumper. Cut out a 1/8" steel plate the same dimensions as my license plate and drilled the holes to match. Drill through the bumpber and secured it with stainless allen head bolts and nylocks. Used "Lite N Boltz" for the top two bolts. Im legal and when I turn on my lights the top two bolts light up my plate. For those in need the solid brown wire is your running light (License plate light source). Tap into that and the black ground on the blackout bumper light.

Well, it's official: I am a perfectionist. My rear plate install took way, WAY longer than it should have but I'm finally pleased with the results.

I made the mount out of a 1x10 plank (I think it was pine). I drilled two new holes in the rear bumper. A hole was bored out on the back side to accommodate the existing bolt head in the bumper. On the "front" side of the wood I used a 1" wood bit to make recesses for my 5/16" mounting bolts and washers. The illumination device was like $6 or $7 at NAPA. I spray painted the wood with some flat black Rustoleum so it wouldn't stick out.

I mounted mine to the bumper and hooked up a cheap light ($2) I got from a parts store. I tied the license plate light into one of the taillights.

I had to do the light on mine.... when the wife is a assistant district attorney you can't get tickets... makes wife mad when me and the MV get pulled over same for the other 'faster' cars... my 101a2 trailer is still waiting on registration before I can take it out for use.

I put mine on my bumper as well and tied a LED light into drivers side tail light (brown wire). The bracket will let me tilt the license plate up if I needed to use the blackout light.

If there was no license plate light on the vehicle as original equipment then it is not needed.

Cops have issues with normal civilain trucks not having the rear plate lit up at night. So, they think that all cucv's fall under that criteria. As those who own the cucv's know it can be a PITA to add the plate on the rear let alone add the light to it while driving at night. I am glad here in Colorado. The MVCC along with the help of the Legislator, a change to the law is now in place that, as long as you have the plate with you your good to go (no need to mount it on the out side of the truck. But it must have been a millitary vehical not a want-to-be that some one modded up to look like one. It also aplies to all military vehicals from any country. Its a PITA but all you need is someone in the state Gov. to sponser a bill and it can happen in your state too. There is no change to the requirement in registration or emissions so the state isn'n missing out on any revenue. and is a win for ex mil truck owners not having to deal with the cops harassment on the issue. One more thing it needs to look like a military vehical, so pink camo will not qualify. Its about not altering it.

This is where mine was located when I bought it. I'm still researching it, but my old police officer buddy says that if the vehicle wasn't originally equipped with a lighted tag, then I don't need one here in GA.

Wow... 4 pages of licence plates/holders and a bit of cop bashing...

Oh and being a Florida resident... I read the florida law, and as I read it, you have to display your license plate if the vehicle is a daily driver... but if you only do parades and re-enactments, then there is an exemption where you can just have it in the vehicle. my .02 USD.

I registered the M1009 and got my plate, and as a social experiment I'm gonna keep it in the glovebox until PD asks about it. I'm the only one in the city driving an MV (except for my Guard unit), and I'm betting I can go quite a while on them just not knowing whether I should have a tag or not. I also work for the city fire department, so even if I do get stopped, I don't expect to be in much trouble. If I end up having to display it, I like the idea of a loop of 550 cord through the holes and looped over the top of the spare tire.

Registered as a antique military vehicle no plate is issued, no restrictions.

In my glove boxes, except for the Pinz, that one is behind my seat. I really love Fl.

Mine is next to my passenger seat (also next to my "US Army" ball cap) and I have an OD painted 6x9 stereo magnet stuck to the bumper for use "in case" I get pulled over... (that magnet will be placed on the rear tailgate and license plate "slapped on" the magnet)...

Have had my M1009 for 11 years and never been pulled over...

Maybe having 35% tint on the windows help too...

Got to love Tennessee...
