Which is the most trouble free engine?

Can anyone tellme if I can add a turbo to my M820 Cummins. I was told by a Cummins mechanic that I can not becasue it does not have something in the motor that sprays oil on the bottom of the piston but he does not know about military motors so he was not 100% sure. I do not want to install it just to ruin my motor. Thanks for any help
