I am becoming tired of having stuff removed. It has only happened twice, but both on this thread. Yeah, a bit sarcastic, but some funny stuff to ad some levity. Yeah, I don't have a large amount of posts, but that's because I try not to put anything up without it having some value. If I'm going to get my post removed every time I exhibit some humor, why should I want to be a member?

Stupid question (there are such things), if you lock-up all 3 axles on a Deuce will it turn? These things kinda want to go straight ahead, even with the open diffs.
Well true: when the all the differentials are all locked up (all three of them) it will be hard to turn. However, I will be setting it up as two separate circuits. Circuit A will be the front differential. Circuit B will be the rear tandems. So I will be able to select either front only, rear only, or front and rear. This will be dependent on the conditions I encounter. And since these are air-lockers the axles will return to open differentials once the air is disengaged. So turning while the differentials in the rear are locked will still be hard it will be easier than turning when all the differentials are locked. And when all differentials are disengaged the truck should turn and drive just like a normal M35A2.

For the umpteenth time, its not a design flaw. Is that such a hard thing to understand? It wasn't your specification and it wasn't your dept of defense. The vehicle hasn't failed. The gov't ordered and purchased what it wanted, not what you wanted. Gheesh, it's like trying to explain driveline geometry to my 3 yr old.
I think it is flaw. And one, I'm rectifying with ARB RD-145's in each axle. If you don't believe so it is fine with me.

You just cut and pasted the Wikipedia entry about Eudaimonia... I didn't really see the humor in it. I was originally going to call myself Rolling_Eudaimonia_Machine but I think it was too long. The idea was that my welling being in some part is derived by the operating of my big fool truck. After all I have a degree in Philosophy and I've recently entered a MFA for Film...

I have no argument against putting lockers in. It helps, plain and simple, gives you 6 wheel drive instead of 3 wheel drive. Reduces the amount of skill you need to get through a given obstacle and for true messes will get you through where an open/open/open axled vehicle would simply get stuck.

I still think you have your head stuck in an anatomically impossible dark crevice about the transfer case argument though. Maybe you should have done some research before diving into an argument where you were straight up wrong.

Or you're just trolling. Darned if I can tell for sure but it really reads like it.

There is no skill level in developing traction-- you either have it or you don't. Now matter the skill level if your vehicle is canted too much or with axles off the ground open differentials will level you stuck. The harder the terrain the greater the need for traction.

If you actually read what I posted... I wanted to put an Oshkosh 55000 series transfer case for several reasons: 1) greater low range, 2) greater torque and hp capacity, 3) and locking differential.

What I said about the Rockwell case was the following I didn't see any diagram or read any information that said it was locked. I agreed that if it was locked it was great but since my original plan was to put 300hp and 860ft-lbs of torque through the device I sure that original case wouldn't work no matter if it locked or not. It was just too small for my plans.

Now however my plans are put 3 RD-145s in the truck, tune up the truck a little bit 200hp roughly, and 420-440ft-lbs of torque. So I figure the stock transfer case will work. Now all I need are 16 spline axles from Ouverson and A3 axles with CTIS 14.5:20R tires and I'll my baby just the want it.

More than 2 years since this thread started and the truck isn't fixed yet? Maybe a course in heavy truck repair and a job that pays enough to buy the parts would be helpful.

Just sayin'.....

By defenition it's not a flaw. If you believe that it is, fine with me. I believe that you are flawed but I'n not constantly posting that. Maybe you could refrain from falsely labeling the truck as flawed.

Now as far as rectifying the flaw,you can't if its not there. You may mean improving you trucks tractive ability but thus far all you have done is talk, lots of talk. In this world there 2kinds of people, people of action and all others. I've not seen any action.

It still won't turn with both rears locked, which is why I recommended that all 3 have separate engagement. but in a few years when you get them installed I'm sure you will let us know. Hopefully it doesn't take you two more years to replace your broken axle shafts & other driveline / suspension parts that break under the extra stress.
