Just finnished up my winch installation and thought I'd share a few pics. The winch and PTO were rebuilt at Toole in 91',according to the data plates on both, and probably never used since as the cable looked to have never been unspooled.Did the install by myself in less than a day.I reused all the original hardware after cleaning up all the threads etc. and saved myself a few bucks.I rented a little tow behind cherry picker engine hoist to get it up to height and the rest you can imagine. When I finnished I unspooled all the cable as the dough heads wound it on backwards, works great!

P.S. The winch top cover is off for a test paint

It looks great. I did an install and ended up having to pull the PTO off and put a thicker gasket in because the gear lash was so tight I couldn't shift properly. It is a bug getting the gear lube into the tranny.

I spent 20 minutes on a bench grinder with a wire brush wheel and cleaned up all the bolts instead of paying a Bennie for new hardware.

I got lucky as the gasket that was on the blind plate on the tranny was a thick one and when I removed it the gasket stayed in place perfectly, that was cool, then I screwed in the studs and hung the PTO.Everything bolted up as it should, with the help of an Mac 1/2" impact.

James,

The truck looks really nice, good job on the winch!, and the tires.

Ok, I have to ask now, how much do you have into the truck at this point? :p

Looks great. Where did you get the winch from? How much did it set you back?

I saw a really undescriptive title then saw this one. This one has it all without being wordy. Nice job and good job posting.

Well I had an eye opener last week. Am putting a Dump body on my M818 and thought I can use the PTO from a Deuce with a Winch. A NO NO! Teath on gear is angled wrong. Now I must locate a PTO for Right side of Trans. I have several Civy PTO.s but too small, won't clear trans housing. Good job on your Winch job! Phil
