Bought new gasket for windshield and now need to install...looked at several videos and read a lot about how to do it.

I have driver side glass out and that section of gasket, pass. side gasket is very hard rubber and have yet to remove it and the glass.

When I do get it out and clean up the metal surface, can the two pieces of glass be inserted in the new gasket and then be placed in the windshield opening?

Thanks

Pretty sure the gasket goes in the opening then the glass goes in, then the locking strip. This is a job for pros that do it all day long. They have tricks.

If you haven't got it installed yet...

Gasket, then glass, then locking strip. I tried doing it with the frame laying on a table. Much easier for me at least when it was vertical on the Jeep. Used a lot of Windex and thumb pressure. 20200920_190551.jpg20200920_203100.jpg

Let gravity help you, set the glass in the bottom of the gasket and work your way around it. I found it easier to keep going in one direction as opposed to trying to go from one side to the other evenly. You can use nylon pry tools to help pull the gasket into place too. It's a bit of a bear to get the second pane into position, almost feels like it could bust with the amount of tension it has in it.

Thanks DeetFreek...was just able to read your full post; my computer service/computer, has been shutting down then restarting...very frustrating.

The pictures are very helpful and Thank you again for your post.

Have not installed yet, driver side is out but still accessing how to remove Pass. side w/ it's hard gasket.
That side also has a diagonal crack and may not make the re-install process.
