Windshield Wiper Air Hose

Just out of curiosity: I've noticed the windshield wiper air hose on my deuce isn't long enough to stay connected when the windshield is folded all the way down. The hose I'm referring to is the first visible one, in the lower left corner of the windshield. I'm just wondering if this is common/intentional, or if it's supposed to be longer and has just been cut down?

lol, just couldn't resist, could you? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile">

I don't know why you would want one of those things, anyways. Sure, it might be warmer and quieter, but nothing beats cruising in a convertable!

Quieter??? Every one I had with a hardtop echoed like crazy in there. Anyway, just about every truck I've had the hose was in fact too short. Maybe due to shrinkage over the years?? I had some that were long enough but had been on there forever and had split ends so I did like you say and cut the split part off.

Now for the big question....why do you need your wipers with the windshield down<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_lol.gif" alt="LOL"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif" alt="Tongue"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile"> I know, i need<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_help.gif" alt="Help">

Heheh. I knew that one was coming, too! And of course I don't need them when I put it down. BUT it would be nice to not have to take off and re-attach the hose every time I put the windshield down and up.

I havent tried to let mine down yet, but mine has a half curl of extra slack. If that makes sense. Just go get some new hose at your local automotive parts house, and leave a little more slack.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile">

Yes. Just install a new hose about four or so inches longer in that position. It leaves a small loop when the windshield is up. I use 1/4" air compressor hose from sears. The local auto parts places only seem to carry air and fuel hoses.

I re-did my air wiper hoses a few months back and this time left a loop for the window down feature. I don't recall what size it is but any NAPA ought to carry it, that's where I bought mine.
