Evaporating the water may not happen as it falls to the bottom of the barrel. You can boil it off but that takes a lot more energy. Better to heat the oil and drain the water and heavy sludge off the bottom (of the barrel before you centrifuge the good oil. I take about 6 hrs to do a 55gal drum and I typically get about a baseball sized mound of crap out of my centrifuge. I set it up and leave it alone as mine is gravity feed as long as I go full 55gal to empty 55gal I have no problems.

I have not figured out a gallons per hour rate. I open the valve on the top of the centrifuge about 60 degrees (90 degrees would be fully open. I have only run three batches of about 50gallons so far. The problems with the two cars do not seem fuel related. Have not have had time to play with the M109 much. Thee was an insurance issue and then school started in early August.

Sorry about no pics of my set-up. I had plans of making a nice, permenant stand for my drum, but life keeps getting more busy by the day it seems. If I took pics now, you guys would say, "Where the heck is the centrifuge in this pic? All I see is JUNK!" My shop is a pitiful mess between me, my kids messing around in it, and my wife's endless supply of junk she wants me to store in there.

I lost power in there last winter when a sheet of ice came off the roof and took out my power line. Now I have to run an extension cord in there to putter since I don't have the cash to buy new line and bury it like it should be done. Someday...

Say, if anyone has anything specific they'd like to see to help them in their decision making or set-up ideas, I will take pics of it and send it in an email to them. Mine is basically there, but not neat and tidy the way I plan it to be eventually. It cleans oil like a son of a gun, though!

Thank you for the informative information in this thread! I am very interested in purchasing a centrifuge such as this and have a few questions.

Have you have had the time to send an oil sample for analysis, and how the findings compare to PA's centirifuge kit/setup? Wolverines kit looks simple enough in setup and cost effective for those that don't have the time to start from scratch.

Have you found any difficulty in water not cooking off at the 150 degree cook time of 3-4 hrs., and if so did you install a drain valve at the side/bottom of your steel tank?

Thanks again for your efforts! If you are able to post a few pics of your final setup I am sure we all would enjoy that!

I have a Dieselcraft OC-50 centrifical filtering setup and it has worked great. So far I have filtered about 300-500 gallons of waste oil. My friends have been running it straight in their duces (my deuce still has the fuel it came with, but this year I will have to refuel it).

I also have a surplus government 300 gallon oil storage container to store my filtered oil in.

I have not gotten much crud form my oil as I filter it, but it does go from black to brown. I think most of the crud, has already settled to the bottom of the storage tanks before I filter it.

When i first started filtering oil, I had several operator induced problems, and dieselcraft helped me work through them. I can reccommend them without hesitation.
