Zinc Chromate plating at home?

Cadmium plating was mostly phased out in the mid-90's. Lot's of the hardware I spec'd originally as cadmium with yellow treatment was changed to yellow zinc as the cost and availability made the cadmium impracticable.

I'm pretty sure you can still get cadmium plating, I think it will be expensive.

Used to make "Jesus nuts" for helicopters which was then chromed atop the green zinc chromate.
Wherever all those parts are now, they will be just like when made 50 years ago.

Parkerizing is good, but will rust unless it is oiled once in a while. I do parkerizing in my shop here, have the big tanks and burners.
