Multi fuel turbos

The D can flow more air.

The fuel is the same from the same pump with the same settings...

So no, the D does not make any more power on a given engine.

Both the C and the D outflow the engine.

You are going to need to use the search function, this turbo question is asked by 75% of the new guys, and repeating responses tends to annoy some of the old timers. Training manuals are your friends. If you have a question and didn't find the answer in the manual, tell us which one you looked in and we can happily point you to the correct information, complete with tables and pictures. These guys are very friendly and open with new folks... but you must at least attempt to help yourself first.

Cheers!

Some say there is a slight difference but you probably won't notice if there is. The real difference is getting a LDS multifuel instead of a LDT. About 195 hp vs 135 hp.

I noice a power loss at top end with the C but much more bottom end grunt. This is because the C spools sooner than the D. The D is better for higher speeds though.

I added a "C" turbo to an LD motor. Other than the deafening screetch, I really don't notice a big difference in power.

The power difference is not noticable, in my opinion.

Please search before posting, even if it's a bet.

I heard Tan trucks are faster(just ask DUG) than OD green trucks but 3 color MERDC is even faster top end but a bit sluggish in the mid-range.

I can only imagine the power of a red truck.

What screetch?

I can't hear any screetch.

And never needed wussy stupid ear protection either!
I'm sure the lack of hearing protection is why you can't hear the screetch/whistle/scream (or whatever you want to call it)

I agree that the C seems to spool faster but, it's likely because I can "hear" it spooling at anything above idle which I enjoy. I had a D on the truck, my boost seems pretty much the same between the two and the power is pretty much the same. If we put it on a dyno, we might notice a difference but as stated earlier, the turbo's will outflow the motor and we'd have to mess with the fuel rate to get a noticeable difference. Also, Doghead may be on to something because I had a Merd C painted Deuce before and although it was rusty, it pulled better than any Deuce I've ever driven and put out almost no black smoke doing it. It would also run about 62 mph on 9.00's at about 2900 rpm all day long.

Funny you should mention that. My first truck has one of those weird looking paint jobs and when I brought it home I could bury the speedo and it would keep pulling. I only did it once on a long clear stretch of interstate.

So yes, paint job makes them go faster.

Have to disagree with Heath on different turbos not affecting power. Yes if the fueling is untouched, WOT will not change. Unless the existing turbo wasn't flowing enough air. Now to further complicate matters, the turbos map will change power through the powerband.
