Suggestion for cheap shipper Sparta,WI to MN

I'm in need of someone to ship a M1009 from Sparta,WI to Zimmerman, MN. About 207 miles. Any suggestions on haulers? I've got one quote of $350 so far.

Thanks Gentlemen, I've decided to rent a trailer and DIY. Yeah $350 was pretty good and I got a quote of $325 even, but I don't really like the unexpected problems with a third party for a small MV.

I dont know what kind of pick up you have but my dodge 2500 takes about 150.00 to fill up and has lots of power with the cummings. It wouls easily do 270 miles for about a tank of gas, even towing a blazer. I would drive it myself, honestly save a few bucks over the 350 quote

I think that was one way; so double gas, add the cost of the trailer, and add your time.

Your call, Time, Money, fuel, possible break down, flat tire etc. Uhaul trailer rental is $75.00 a day but you will have to say you are pulling an S-10 truck or an S-10 blazer otherwise they will not rent it to you. Ask me how I know. Picked mine up from Orlando and took it to Jax 5 hr round trip ended up taking 8. Again your call. $325.00 sounds well worth it.

I was all set up to do it myself with a rental trailer from a local place, cost would've been about $200 overall, but was leary using my 2500 Dodge(gas engine) with a class3 hitch for the weight of the vehicle and trailer without a load distributing hitch. Had someone pull it out of Sparta to store it a few days reasonable($100). I will be heading over there soon to drive it home, if need be tow bar it home, if I can figure out where to get some ends for my towbar that will work with the front of the M1009. The vehicle runs with a jump start.

I wouldn't try and drive home till it had a good going over. If you are going to flat tow you will need to pull the rear drive shaft from the rear axle and tie it up well so you do not loose it or dump transfluid all over the highway. I would trailer it as you do not know the conditions of the axles , the front bearings, or if you have an old tire that might separate . My front bearings had water intrusion from sitting and had it been driven or flat towed would have lead to catatastrophe. Too risky for me. The safe way is the best way. Again, your call.

It could also have the famous GL bent driveshafts .

NO! it's the t-case that will be spinning.
Trailer it or drop the rear shaft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK I'm confused. Isn't it spinning when you are driving too? Curious what would get damaged and how? I flat towed an 88 Ford ranger for thousands of miles behind dumptrucks, tractors ect delivering them, didn't hurt the ranger. Different lubrication system? If I did flat tow it would be 200 miles or less.

There is a difference between pushing and pulling. normally the T case drives the shaft, now we are talking that the shaft will be driving the t-case.
See Natem's M1010 recovery thread, less than 150 miles and he has concerns over the amount of heat the T-case had.
Wonder what the TM says to do when towing????????????
