M35 fuel filter issues

So I decided to service this 465 multifuel. Changed the oil no prob with napa filters. Did the research and bought both napa gold 3512 fuel filters. I do not understand why one canister is leaking. I replaced the seal. I was looking at it and it seems to be a shade smaller the the other filter canister. I pulled the filter out thinking it may be and issue and it seated nicely, snugged it up...same issue! Spent 4 hours going back and fourth. I flip flopped the canister and it still leaks. Seems the canister is having and issue but for the life of I can't fig why. It's nice and round plus it was working fine before I took it off. All I did was pull the canisters and install new filters. Anyone have any issues like this or suggestions. At this point I do not know if it makes a difference or which canister goes where. I lost track. To many diesel fumes.

Make sure you removed the old gasket before you used the new gasket.
I usually just re-use the old gasket.

I did. Had it in and out several times checking it was seated right I'm truly lost. Unless that canister is bent a little???

Without doubt. Like I said it's just the one canister. The one that's a hair smaller in length. I'm lost. Never had an issue like this I can recall.

It's not seating correctly. I'm thinking I need to replace the canister. But it wasn't leaking before.

Make sure that when your putting the cannister back on the NEW FULLY SEATED seal that you DO NOT let the cannister rotate as your tightening up the bottom bolt, if it moves even a little it can move the gasket enough to leak, dont feel bad I had to learn this the hard way to!

Yeah thanks man...I didn't let it rotate. But you mentioned a bottom bolt. I have a single bolt from the top. My canisters have a rod down the center from the bottom up top with maybe 1 inch thread.

Don't forget, many on here just use 3512 in both secondary and final however they are only 10 micron, the final should be 3540 that is the 6 micron that is suppose to be in there!!!

PS, sorry but they are the same size so not the problem with your leak, just wanted to give a heads up on the right number for the final.

Roger all...I'm telling you though one filter canister is smaller, not by much...1/2 inch maybe. I will send a pic with a tape next to it tomorrow. The rod down the center is bent a little. did my best to pull it back to dead center. But this shouldn't be an issue, the nut should pull it straight and guid it right in. Goofy.

changed the fuel filters now it wont start

M62 mulity fuel wrecker 1955 maybe some could help me out installed 2 new fuel filters and the first one was muddy and sludge and the secont one was kinda clean, but now i wont start i pulled the engine cut off switch and primed up the filters full of fuel and then pushed in the stop engine cable and i though it would start up like that,but still wont start i opend one of the injectors to bleed out the air and no fuel is coming out, so i open up the last filter and fuel is inside but nothing is comming to the injector dose any one know a way to some how prime it up?

I had the same problem with over torquing the bolts.

CALVIN3103 I am not sure about the multi fuel five tons, but my M923A1 does not have an intake fuel pump like my duece does. You might need to prime the fuel system to get it to start. Thats how I do it on my tractor and my trucks.

Case closed. Canister was bad after all. I replaced it and it great. All I can think is the last owner damaged the canister and must have worked his rear off getting it to seat.

I would say do a search then start a thread if your search did not answer your question. I will go out on a limb here and say your truck has an intank pump as I don't know for a fact. If it does then the search would have told you to turn on your intank pump and bleed out the finial filter per bleeder screw. No fuel there then intank bad. You got fuel comming out there you remove the shut down cover and look for free movement on the collar control shaft on the hyd. head. Should be in the 7 oclock pisition and when pushed back to 4 oclock it will spring forward back to 7 oclock. You don't need to bleed injectors on a multifuel as long as there is fuel comming to the head it will compress and send it to the injectors if all is right with your hyd. head.

I'm not sure why I've never thought to put a gauge on the tank, I have seen that port there multiple times and just thought "man that's an awful wired spot to put a set-screw" didn't even cross my mind to put a gauge on it... jeepers the things you learn after one random day of looking at threads.
