Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
You should try loading the Power Unit of an M48 (without the trailer) up a set of ramps onto a stepdeck. In the moment, freezing up is understandable. I bet it scared the bejesus out of him too.
Agreed! driver error... it was loaded and hauled there just fine... but couldn't manage to back her strait off? must be how they get experience? The driver HAD a spotter on the ground and another standing on the front of the trailer. Either it was poor communication or the driver was too stuck-up to take the guidance. No teamwork there at all. Amateurs.
That quote has me laughing! The driver should have put his arms out the window to help break the fall, and minimize the damage to the truck.
That WAS the first and LAST time WM loaded a MK48 FPU (later he did say he was constipated for 3 days)., I did the rest, not sure which is worse, going up the ramp, not knowing if the FPU will try to go over backwards or the break-over on to the trailer and the FPU try to tip forward with the break-over.You should try loading the Power Unit of an M48 (without the trailer) up a set of ramps onto a stepdeck.
The first time I did it my "O ring" achieved a "Pucker Factor" of 10. You couldn't have driven a straight pin up my butt with a 12 pound sledge hammer.
