Banks sidewinder fuel line rerouting

Okay so I finally got a chance to start the install of my new sidewinder turbo. Wow this thing is fighting me every step of the way!aua. The exhaust manifold was the easy part! Soaked it in Kroil over night and it came right of. The block oil plug on the drivers side, of coarse had to have a nut welded on it to get it off, well 6 to be exact , but who's counting. Then the allen head of the pin inside the injection pump broke. Yes broke! So I had to get it out with a vise grips. Then weld a 6mm allen wrench into it , cut it off so I could put a normal wrench on it to reinstall it :-|. Now I'm ready to install the new manifold but the factory fuel hard line is right smack in front of the flange for the crossover pipe. So now I need to reroute the fuel line but I don't know how or where I should go about this. The instructions don't mention anything about having to move the lines , much less how to do it? Do any of you have a pic of what you did? Or can you explain how you did it?

Okay new question. I think Banks sent me the wrong crossover pipe. One for a 2WD rather then for 4WD. The one I have runs (OVER) the top of front cross member , crammed up against the oil pan and the cross member. I had to cut and fit it together yesterday. After looking on line I saw an article showing it going (UNDER) the cross member. So My question is this, Is there a difference between the 2WD and 4WD cross member? Is the 4WD one beefier and that's way the fit was soo tight? Here's the article I saw........http://www.motortopia.com/dieselwor...lazer-gets-a-banks-sidewinder-turbo-kit-1754/......Pic #21 is what I'm talking about.

Okay so I fixed the fuel line problem by routing it around and under the passenger side motor mount and out through an oval hole in the frame. Then I cut about 18 inches off the steel line and just plugged into it. Things end up being simpler when you don't over think it:cookoo:. And as for the exhaust it turns out they did send me the wrong kit, and I guess there is ah difference between the cross member that goes under the front of the engine for 2WD and 4WD. Also the intermediate pipe is different somehow so it can clear the transfer case. I was able to finally start the truck yesterday and everything looks good so far the only problem is the boost gauge doesn't seem to work so I'll have to figure that out later once I get the correct exhaust installed.

I am looking to turbo my 1009 in the near future. I am interested in what the total cost ends up being with the banks system when you are done. I am considering either collecting 6.5 parts for the project or to start collecting money for the banks. Just wondering how much I would have to collect.

The Banks 2 wheel drive crossover IS different from the 4wd crossover. Did you say you just bought the kit from Banks?

Well including all the trips to the parts store for odds and ends I'm probably just shy of $2500.00. If I had it to do over again I'd do ah factory turbo off ah 6.5. Not so much for the price, but because it'd have to be less hassle then this thing has bin. I'm not real impressed with Banks service. It took them nearly ah month to get the kit to me, which as it turns out had the wrong exhaust with it. Then when I called them to get it corrected they refused to overnight me the new parts, so now I have to wait ah week to get them. I explained to them that this is a work truck and not ah toy, but I guess there bottom dollar was more important then mine:goodjob:. Also there instructions are vague, missing steps, no bolt list, and nothings marked or numbered. I spent a lot of my time just fishing for the correct bolt. These complaints may sound nit picky to some, but when you consider the price, and potential damage that could be caused if installed incorrectly. Not so much.2cents

I had thought they had discontinued the sidewinder kit?
Well I don't think they (STOCK) it anymore, there made to order. When I ordered it the kid taking my order said, ("Once they get your kit put together they'll email you a shipping confirmation") that took ah week an ah half. I called after the first week to see if they had forgotten to email me, and the kid said they were still working on making it. Of course he never told me they had to build the dang thing when I placed the order, and set aside time to install itaua. So when I finally got it three and ah half weeks after placing my order, it had to sit on my shelf for another month before I could steal this time to install it. Now here I sit waiting another week for them to ship me the correct exhaust. :-( frustrating.

I think for that kind of money and service, I need to start sourcing 6.5 parts. I would like to just buy the banks passenger manifold so that I could have my cross over pipe come up in the front and not the back.
I can make the cross over and I believe all of the 6.5 stuff would fit it.

I have always heard bad things about banks customer service. I hate buying parts from people who do not appreciate their customers.
I have a banks kit on the 5.9 cummins in my motor home. I had to change the manifold and I need a new pyrometer probe so I will probably have to call them sooner or later.
