The Gator Speedway in Willis, TX is having a veteran's appreciation night this Saturday (10/17) at 18:30. The Marine Corps League is involved and has asked if anyone would like to bring their truck out for a static display. I know this is a last minute notice, but please let me know if you are interested and I'll put you in contact with someone from the Marine Corps League.

I would like to be there, but may have a conflict with work.

Who's free Saturday December 5, 2015?

The Marine Corps League Eastex Detachment is having their annual East Texas Toy Run benefitting Toys for Tots on December 5. This is a combination of a police escorted motorcycle ride and an event at the American Legion Hall in Willis, Texas. TAMU86 and I took our trucks last year. A lot of old veterans attend this event, and they really enjoyed seeing our trucks. This year I was told that all military trucks are welcome to attend -- the more the merrier.

I figure this gives us a great opportunity to gather our trucks and enjoy some good company. The veterans will enjoy seeing our trucks, and you can bring a toy(s) to support Toys for Tots! Not to mention, the BBQ they sold last year for lunch was really good!

The event is held at:
American Legion
13054 E. FM 1097 Rd.
Willis, Texas 77378

Since we park in the back, they would like us parked before the bikers and public show-up. Please plan to get there around 1000. Last year, TAMU86 and I left around 1330-1400. I've attached a flier to this post with more information.

Please let me know if you plan to attend. I need to give a rough vehicle count. Also, this event is open to the public. Feel free to come even if you don't have an MV or feel free to spread the word. Lastly, don't forget to bring new, unwrapped toys.

Saturday, December 5th is almost here!

I've spoken with a number of folks in the area. We have 2 (maybe 3) trucks that will be at the Toys for Tots event this weekend. Several more are maybe's.

Let me know if you can make it this Saturday. I'm trying to get a rough vehicle count for the event organizer.

(Note, Toys for Tots specific information and pictures will be shared in the Toys for Tots thread here >> http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showth...-2015-Events&p=1803685&viewfull=1#post1803685)

Here's more information about the group from SteelSoldiers that met this morning:

Despite a full-on assault from Murphy this morning, we still managed to have a great day (okay, at least most of us...)!

In order of size, we had a HET, bobbed 5-Ton (with a M916 engine), Deuce and a CUCV show up this morning. It was a great group of folks and MV's! That's the good news.

The bad news is that we should have had three more Deuces (including mine). One had a break fluid leak this morning and the starter went out in another. The engine in mine is knocking. So my MV stayed at home and I took the POV.

Here are some more pictures of the trucks:

Wow! No posts thus far in 2016!!! Let's blow the dust off this thread and flush the cobwebs out...

I was asked if there are any trucks in the area that are free for an event on Thursday, November 10th. The Marine Corps League (a veterans group) is organizing a golf tournament at the Woodforest Golf Club and has asked if anyone would like to put their truck on display. It would be a static display, possibly on the golf course. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will get you more information. Unfortunately, I can't get out of work that day and won't be able to make it.

being 30 miles south of Houston makes it a little difficult to get up in that area in a 5 ton. wish there were more FMV's south of Houston so at least could have a couple of people to help each other out if something happens along the roadside.
