What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Drove mine to get a load of firewood (ends of boards) at a local sawmill. Really liked when they had a lot of orders for coal mine cribbage, as that left a lot of 12x6" ends about 12" to 16" in length. Yesterday all they had was 2x12"s and 2x6"s about a foot long. All hardwoods. If it fits, it burns!

Well, as for the truck, she started well in single digits, but the radiator fan was engaged and didn't disengage until I shut it off at the sawmill. I should have shut it off after the truck warmed up a bit. Driving it with the fan constantly running really used the fuel and made me wind the engine a bit more to shift through the gears. The ride home was more relaxing. Now I know the trick to unsticking the stuck fan valve. I also had the CTIS acting up with all lights flashing, which has never happened except occasionally on startup. After I unloaded, I heard an air leak kick on and off. The CTIS wheel valve came off the air tube, but was still bolted on. I just pushed it back together for now. It's supposed to be all the way up to 30° tomorrow so I will fix it right then, maybe putting a little more bend on that bracket.

more stripping, sanding, and painting primer... and i put on locking door handles..
I'd of done more, but i have to hurl myself out of a helicopter early tomorrow morning.

How are you doing anything in this Colorado cold? The shop is heated via electric heat, but i can't bring myself to keep it 68 degrees. Hope you landed under deployed chutes...

Haven't done anything to my truck lately :( All I did was cover the exhaust stack before it started snowing last night/this morning. Too cold, and I haven't been motivated because of my back issue. Doctor told me today that I have to stop working until my surgery on February 4th. That should be great, because I would have plenty of chances to drive the truck :driver:However, they put me on stronger pain meds, so I'm not allowed to drive :( :recovry4x4:

Sucks.

Yup John that sucks. Speedy recovery. I guess you will have to get the wife to start her and drive her until you can.

I know the surgery will go fine and wishing you a speedy recovery. [thumbzup]

That's pretty special, can you give us a breakdown of what you did? Or did you already do that in a build thread?
Been a busy week and haven't had time to put much together, but here's the jist of it. I didn't do a build thread but there's some scattered posts floating around. Ford Mechanic has done well picking up my slack.

Some threads...

The bumper is from an RG-33 MRAP variant.
The boxes are aluminum MRAP stowage boxes.
I fabbed the winch plate, bumper mounts and box brackets. Added factory frame extensions. Total added weight for everything is close to 1200#. Rides like a Caddy now.

Some of the "after" pictures from the next day. Front axle disengaged to assist in making a mess. T-case in low so I could control speed with throttle since we are on a bit of a slope. The boys named this place the "Dirty Spot", lol.

Brody is my co-pilot and rides in the passenger seat. Brayden is my navigator and rides in the middle. Brayden said he couldn't see the tires so I made a video for him.
