Someone down the road from me is selling a 51 M34. I'm thinking about picking it up. I can't find much info on it and would like to know some specs not sure if its gas or diesel, pretty much any info would be great this will be my first big military truck. Thanks for your time.

If it is an original '51, then it has the OA331 Gasser engine. Figure 5 mpg to drive it anywhere, 9 quart oil changes and such. They are a blast to own and drive. Just be prepared to pay to play with it.

Yeah same here. Im looking at a 1952 Deuce M34 gasser. I believe its the cadillac 302 engine?? The Truck sat all winter (2016 so i'm told?) and the darn thing started right up just yesterday (5-23-17). This will also be my first BIG truck if i close the deal and so I'm just searching for a little info? Such as, what is a fair price to pay giving it runs and drives and its an automatic. The condition is good ( to me at least) and has the truck has the bows and back cover. The owner also has a super RARE hard top for it to but thats on a different deal. I'm told that the Hard top was only available to the canadian trucks? So any help would be nice. And is there anything i should beware of or look for? Thanks. I also attached a picture of the deuce

That's not an m34, but a GMC m135. It should have a 302 gas engine. I wouldn't call a hard top "super rare", but it is a nice upgrade. Check out the early deuce forum for info about that series truck. They do not bring as much money or interest as the g742 REO trucks in my experience.
The gas tank is incorrect too.

Yeah ok. Thanks guys. I was told it was a 1952 M34 but i will do more research. And yeah it does have the GM 302. He's asking 2K. So i was thinking almost anything (Like this) that starts and goes down the road is pretty much worth that kind of money?
But thanks for the help.

Buying a running, stopping, shifting 1952 M135 in the low 4 digit range is a good start. Since you jumped on a 6 year old thread it's not like you're stepping on someone else's info so let's chat about what you should look out for! When you buy it.....:D.... join us over here and get some more pics for us. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/forumdisplay.php?18-The-Early-Deuce

From the bottom of the tires to the top of the roof is usually the path we take to get them on public roads. These trucks are now 60 years old so metal fatigue, frame twisting, alignments, cracks at suspension mounts, old seals/ bearings all need to be considered if you don't have documentation on maintenance. We started at catastrophic stuff first, tires, hubs, brakes, axles/ seals / bearings, steering, suspension, shocks, u-joints, Park brake, electrical, and so on.

You've got your truck running so that's good now it's going through....points, plugs, wires, capacitors, coil, gaskets, seals, oil changes, filters, starters, water-pumps, fan-belts and all the perishable items...,

The transmission is the final countdown and if that one shifts....sneak it home, grab the manual and go through the maintenance to keep it healthy.

Hard-tops went on a few different G749 models, like the M220... so check data plates and the side rail of the frame just behind the front/ passenger tire. That will confirm the model number and where it fits in the rare, medium or well done category.

Great find, it'll go good with a hummer!!!

Aslo, if I'm not mistaking isn't the GMC 1952 M135 the same Deuce ( Deuce's) used in Movie Rambo First blood? Don't know if any of you guys are movie buffs?
But I'm pretty sure M135 are the trucks they used.

Thanks for the info. Indeed there is a few things to consider. Thanks again.
