Well, I stimulated the economy today... I managed to buy up a rather "cherry" CCKW today from a fella in Wisconsin. Its in rather decent shape really with a few lingering issues im going to have to sort out. The Warner T93 transmission has a rather extensive crack in the bottom of the case and refuses to turn... so I don't have real high hopes for it. The transfer case shift levers are froze together and thus also refuse to move. The engine seems to be stuck as well though ironically the inside appears to be in semi-respectable shape as far as whats under the valve cover. I did take the inspection plate off the bellhousing and tried to bar it over to no effect. I'm not sure if the input of the trans is also frozen not letting the engine turn over (its in neutral, the shifter is stuck there) or the engine is actually stuck. What I do know is that the front sheet metal is in nice shape, the doors have rot on the bottom but are otherwise solid too. Cab is kinda iffy in places but not bad.

So, options. I can pull the transmission out of it and see what I'm actually working with as far as if it's saleable (which I'm kinda doubting) or I pull the engine/trans combo and swap in something slightly more modern like the GMC 305 v6 I've got. The last two options are a medium duty over drive 5 and a 4bt or a gmc 302 with a stock trans. I really want to stay gas to keep the max rpms higher...

Actually, I am naive when it comes to CCKW's. We have an M35A2 and an XM818 (and a couple of trailers - see sig block below). But I've got plans for a CCKW project myself. At this time though I've not acquired any parts or pieces worth mentioning.

What sort of bed do you intend to configure her with?

I hope to learn from your experiences.

Thanks for letting my watch over your shoulder.

To be honest Im really not sure what i want to do for a bed. I had an idea do built a bed with a likeness to the factory cargo body but then having the sides limits the use for it. Maybe ill do a regular flatbed or something for it, maybe Ill find a hoist and make it a dump truck. What are your thoughts?

Winer Surplus LLC 330-628-4881 has the 5 speed for $595. You won't find a better deal .
I wonder what that would cost shipped... might have to make a call. Id like to get this thing running and driving sooner, rather then later. After all, its much easier to move around a running, driving truck and move it to work on it then it is a completely dead one lol

Motor freight will be about $150 if you collect the item at the terminal.

Brent Mullins Jeep Parts has new fenders for one side I forget which. Looks like you need both.

The fenders really arnt to bad. I have a set of dolly blocks, a few decent hammers and a welder, I should be able to make them presentable. As far as the transmission goes im going to see if I hear back from the fellow and Prior lake, John, and see if he has anything.

Your best bet is to just call him, he is really busy lately.

Thanks for all the input fellas! I did get ahold of John, emailed me right away this morning with a negative on a trans. He did however give me the number of a friend of his who might have/know where one is more local. I'll see if he comes up with something by the end of the day otherwise if he doesn't have one ill call winer.

Man, another update so fast. Haha I called up winer about that transmission, he said he doesn't have a complete one anymore sadly. Just parts and pieces. I'll have to see about pulling my transmission and seeing if something, if anything, is salvagable.
