I discovered that very same clearance issue....3 years ago... I basically said screw it, those damn huck bolts will be the death of me.. Lord knows what lurks behind the c6 clutch cover and within the TC/transmission... So my choices were a pot luck used trans/TC for $5k or a retran from MTP for $11k... I , gulp, chose the later.. 3 years and 5k+ miles later.. zero issues...
I don't have any needle bearings, metal pieces, or anything pointing to C6 failure, that I know of. I'm trying to replace it to hopefully prevent that.

Loosen the bed bolts. Put a bottle jack on the tire. Cut a 4x4 to length you need and raise the bed. You can sneak it out then
Oh that's a good technique. Huk bolts were cut a year ago, have some 10.9 replacement bolts so dont even need the angle grinder for your technique.

I was also considering welding some 2" receivers on my truck bed corners to use camper jacks but that is a much more convenient right now option. Thanks !

Allison spent the time/money to engineer 2 replacement parts for the entire series of 3070/3700 which I have to assume is running ATF in non-mil applications so I'd say high enough to warrant engineering a replacement part ?
The military no longer uses 15w40 in the Allison's on the A1P2's. They use Dexron VI.
