i just joined because i am going to buy a M35A2 or a M109 as soon as i get the chance. however that is not going to be until this summer.. May at the earliest. i have heard that the government is selling off all the M35A2s right now and i am wondering if they will still be plentiful in May? Basically i am wanting to know if i have to go ahead and buy one asap or can i wait until it would be a better time for me? also my local Base just sold about 75 trucks, do they usually sell there whole inventory at once or can i expect more in the future? just some noob questions so sorry if i coulda answered them with a search.. i did that and didn't find much. so sorry in advance.

Fact # 1 - If GL sells 100 trucks this week, then there is 100 less in the inventory.

Fact # 2 - The inventory is limited.

Fact # 3 - When supplies dry up, the prices WILL double & triple.

Fact # 4 - Now is the cheapest that they will ever be. Scrap prices are low & the trucks coming out now are in good shape & 90% can be driven off the base w/no problems.

DM is correct.. We are at the beginning of the end for M44 series trucks from GL... There simply arent too many more in the inventory.

There are few guys on this list I trust as much as MARK (AKA "The Supply Captain" and AKA EMMADO22) when it comes to knowledge about the hobby. He has said on numerous occasions that the supply is dwindling and the end is near. How near is the really pertinent question. I have heard elsewhere, and Mark confirmed here, that they are due to release all M44 series trucks by late this year. It may take longer...but that is their goal. With that said, if I wanted a truck, I would not plan on waiting until December. Do what you want.

In October there were roughly 4000 cargo type M35A2 series. That would include w/w, wow, dropside, etc. Those numbers did not include 109 vans nor A3 models. Based on some incomplete but still relevant data I have, we are now nearly through half of those in 6 months.

As for your specific location it's a big ? mark. With the way GL moves stuff around, they could have trucks turned in right next to you and they could move them to another base. Vice versa, they could move stuff from Chambersburg to a base near you. I would say very shortly we will be having trucks only appear in any numbers at fewer and fewer bases.

There are also several members with vehicles for sale due to the impact of the economy on their life. Several of these are going for very good prices and from folks that took good care of their trucks.

So yes, you better buy fairly soon. Within 6 months, the vast majority will be gone.

how about the ones in AL anyone want to check one out and help me in getting a hold of one long range. most of the event 4107 that they are part off looks good. 9 out of 10 appear to be in good shape. i cant get down there to check them out. and i don't know how to get one back up here.

also the ones on ebay look more buyable to me so i dont have to worry about the government BS. will there still be a lot of after market trucks this summer even if GL starts running dry. im only looking to spend around $2500-$3000 for something that starts when i want it to. going to use this mostly for camping, tailgating, socail events, etc. my biggest problem is getting it home....

Never take a risk that you can not afford to lose.

If you want a "guaranteed runner", I would suggest buying private party.

Keep in mind, that even if GL lists something as "running" & it shows pics of a nice truck, trucks do end up with major parts stolen off of them at some bases in between the time that they take the pics & you pick it up.

IF you see something missing prior to leaving the GL lot.....they might offer to cancel your sale & refund your money. But, if you leave the lot, you are accepting it as-is & you have zero recourse against them.

CARNAC,

Any idea when they will sell the A3's? Seems like half of the 4000 trucks have and are being sold in Al. Trucks in the Northern states are limited and are going for close to the $3000.00 mark with buyer premium and taxes.

A bunch of M35A2C's went for UNDER $1000 in New York 2-3 weeks ago. Just look for sales with lots of trucks....normally they go for a LOT cheaper.

A3s are picking up speed from what I see.....not so many "totaled" ones.....more like parade trucks w/one flat tire. AND.....the A3 prices are going down :)

Waiting for the A3's. I got a good A2 out of Indy last year, 313 miles. I guess it would be nicer to recover one closer to home without paying an arm and a leg.
