Fuel Pump RPM

Does any one know the correct rpm for the in take fuel pump? Mine went TU a few days ago and the engine has gotten hard to start. Took the pump out and nothing happens when you flip the acc switch on. If I rap the can with a screwdriver it runs very slowly making a rattling sound then stops. It also rattles when I shake it, I think I may have lost a brush.

I am considering reusing the pump and replacing the motor with either a sealed motor mounted high in the tank or mounting the motor externally and running a drive shaft through the hole that used to be used for the motor wire to fuse bulkhead.

Why not just replace the pump with an after market (out side the tank) pump? Easier and less cost than trying to reinvent the wheel?

In researching the inline units that have been targeted at the M35 I found several different people say they cannot keep up at WOT. Granted I have been driving with nothing, so something is better.

What you are looking for is 5 to 7 lb. when running from the intank pump motor off. The IP pump will boost it from there. Check TM's for correct pressures at certain rpm on IP pump.
