Cannibalized while waiting for EUC!

Well, so far i have only recovered one item, a MEP-003A, and sure enough somebody snatched the batteries which appeared to be new. So i'm at 100% for being ripped. Hopefully that percentage will decrease.

I wish you luck! I'm nearing 60 days on my first EUC and, as of yesterday (according to my buddy, picking up a lot where mine is) my powerplant appears to have been untouched since we were there a few weeks ago. That would mean that my batteries might still be in place, and they were strong enough to turn both gensets over, then.

Justin, the head GL guy, claims to have salvaged a few missing parts for me, and has not forgotten his promise to do that, so I am encouraged! He will get an "attaboy" from me if he comes up with all of them, by the time of my load out, but I will still follow through on criticism/strong suggestion to Gl HQ to hire on a few more folks at these GL sites to ensure proper escort and reduced theft.

I feel for the on-site managers, if/when they aren't given the personnel assets they need to do the job properly, but it is we auction winners who, so far, seem to be getting the short end of the stick! It might help for each of us to do whatever we can, when we are visiting a GL site, to try to spot and stop theft, with the hope that we may someday benefit from another SS's assistance!

Both EUC's I was waiting for came in on day 53! It remains to be seen whether or not anything else will have disappeared from my AN/MJQ-18 powerplant at loadout, but I'm scheduled for Jan. 4-5 and will post a report after I get both lots home.

So I've been told, but so far, the loss does not appear to be serious enough to overcome the fact that this particular lot is very low time, and in good shape. I'll probably just accept it (with whatever Justin is able to replace) and go home having learned my first lesson regarding GL! Any future auction wins requiring an EUC will clear much faster, thus leaving less opportunity for someone to rip me off.

That still leaves the basic problem unresolved, however, and I imagine it will stay that way unless lots of folks voice their displeasure over theft, to GL. Escorted visits are probably still the easiest and cheapest answer!

FYI - Picked up my two outstanding lots, today, at Ft. Meade, and brought them home, successfully, with nearly 4 hrs. on the road. As advised by others, Justin, the Site Mgr., was competent and professional in his handling of my load out, and my initial concerns are resolved. More, in a day or so, as I try to get my MEP0003A's running! Met a couple other SS's during the very busy load out period, including one who may turn out to be a distant relative!!

My set was just as pictured when I got it, and Justin was very helpful as others have stated. I'd have been up **** creek if he wasn't around to help. I didn't anticipate that the lowest point on the hitch jack would be about 8" higher than the pintle hitch on my truck

Justin had the forklift driver set it on for me. My wife would have been little help!

Thanks, papabear! I'm not out of the woods, yet, since I'm not up and running, but definitely LOOKING better than I have, to this point! Did find 2 more parts missing - both oil filler caps - certainly not end of the world, but annoying. I'm amazed, though, that someone hadn't lifted the four batteries off my prize - ALL less than a year old, and working great!

Last year I won two of six really cherry M35A2s at Warner Robins. The week of the auction, I personally drove all six units and ranked them. They were 1987s all with less than 10,000 miles and each containing complete maintenance records since the day they entered service at Patrick AFB in 1987 and transfer to Warner Robins in 1993. All had full sets of batteries and all started without a hitch as maintenance had serviced each before releasing to DRMO. Thirteen days (13) after the close of the sale my EUC cleared (NO LIE) and I was first of the buyers standing at the Drmo with a big smile only to find my trucks had no batteries...not even one. Come to find out, none of the other trucks that I drove a couple of weeks earlier has batteries. Gone. They were traced to a couple of guys out of Florida that came to inspect the trucks. The bottom line is I never got batteries. Buyer beware.

First EUC at 13 DAYS?! Are you SERIOUS?!!

Bummer about your batteries - perfect example of why we need to push for escorted previews and load outs! As I have stated, before, personally I would much rather pay a reasonable "visit fee" (which could pay for the "escort"), than have to later pay big bucks to replace things like batteries, or other expensive or unavailable parts!

"Buyer Beware" still doesn't cut it since, as in your case, the equipment was OK when you checked it out, but missing batteries at load out! It would be more satisfying, if we could say, "Buyer Gets Even!" GL should be held responsible, every time.

I got one of those 87s (and a 70). None of the batteries were there when they were recovered.

Did you get the lift gate truck? I really wanted that one.
