    Artisan's M916

Bad news, got a hole in the radiator, water pump bearings are shot. Good news, installing the new alternator upgrade just got a whole lot easier.

    Artisan's M916

Too bad you're on the wrong coast, I could have traded you welding jobs for the upgrade! That's one of the many things I'm tasked with at my job. I don't have any good welding projects for the 917 yet, but I figured you may enjoy some it the other recent projects. (Btw, we have a 460 amp plasma...

    Artisan's M916

I noticed in our email conversation you said you were anal, that's an understatement! Your attention to detail is pretty amazing. I'm more of a "as long as it runs who cares how it looks" kind of guy, but I do admire those of you who are this detail oriented. ps, this is how we handle the...

My Truck's First Job For Hire

Yep. We actually leave it off most of the time when we are using it off road unless we are hauling sand.

M917 got a shiny new trailer.

Yes sir, that's where that shiny new alternator is going. I parked it in the shop this evening and tore her down to get ready for the install. We are starting on a two mile long fence next week so the truck will be parked till after your package arrives so I figured I'd get her ready!

Snapped another picture of the combo in its natural habitat. Moving the ex to the other side of the property!

M917 got a shiny new trailer.

She pulled like a dream. The tri-axle didn't even feel like it was back there except when I hit a few hills. Artisan, I already installed the A/C, it was pretty straightforward. I am also a certified welder so the few brackets I had to make we're pretty easy. The a/c install also killed two...

    M917 trailer plug 12v?

Turns out I'm the idiot. Just found an excerpt in the TM that states the 915, 916, and 920 are 24v 12-pin, but the 917 is 12v 12-pin. Wonder why that one model would be different?

    M917 trailer plug 12v?

So, I'm currently trying to pull a 7 pin trailer behind my 12 pin 917, and according to the TM's the truck should be 24v output at the trailer plug. I'm getting 12v from earth to both turn signal pins and the running light pin on the truck. How is this possible? I assume someone before myself...

    M917 Towing Capacity

Thanks for the replies. I found that pintle rating of 60k, but as stated, that was the only rating listed. The GCWR is listed as n/a in the TM. I appreciate the helpful replies, and was glad to see I got the smart-ass one I was expecting.

    M917 Towing Capacity

I'm sure the answer to my question is somewhere in a manual, but I can't seem to find it so I'll ask here. What is the towing capacity of the M917 dump? Any info would be appreciated.

    M917 front spring bolt size?

So, I've searched the manuals provided on this site, but I'm pretty sure I'm a bit thick headed and just can't find the answer to this question. Can anyone tell me off hand what size (dia and length) the bolt that attaches the frame to the front eye of the front leaf spring on a M917 dump...

    Singling out a m917 dump

The winch would be used only in off road/recovery applications. I was hoping to come up with a bolt on solution that could be removed the 5% of the time the truck was driven on the road. I tend to get equipment stuck in the swamp a whole lot and would love to use the truck as a winch/anchor.

    Front Winch for m917?

I've done some searching, but have come up empty. Has anyone ever put a winch on the front of a m917 dump? Just finished singling out mine and it seems as if a winch would be the next mod. Any info would be appreciated.
