GEP 6.5 NA replacement for CUCV?

Thanks Phil. I saw your project when I was researching mine. It does look like it will clear the cross member. The slope of the 6.5 oil pan from the front to the bottom is lower than the 6.2 so might have a front axil issue. At least it looks close if you bottom out the front axil. Did you put...

GEP 6.5 NA replacement for CUCV?

I thought I purchased an older Engine since it was normally aspirated. It came from a Humvee. Low mileage. I read that the older GEP 6.5 oil pans would work in a CUCV and the newer ones will not. Well, the engine I have is a 12555506, 07 02 K, with double triangles making a diamond on the top...

Sad Days, Hats off, Beers up!

Glad you are OK. You suffered my biggest fear after putting all the work into one of these trucks. You never get your money back from something like this. But one can hopefully get another as you did. Take care.

Injector Pump Question for 94 6.5NA Humvee engine I am puting in to my M1009

Sounds like the bracket has to be changed to get full throttle out of the M1009 throttle cable. The 6.5 I have doesn't have the hole in the bracket, so you would have to drill one to put the small bolt in for the solenoid. The other attachment for the solenoid is one of the bracket bolts. The...

Injector Pump Question for 94 6.5NA Humvee engine I am puting in to my M1009

Thanks Barrman. I know people have done this swap here. I was hoping to get help. It is a mechanical DB2. Was wondering if the tops would swap and also about the throttle bracket since they are different. I still would like to know why the 6.5 had no fast idle solenoid. Again thank you for the info.

Injector Pump Question for 94 6.5NA Humvee engine I am puting in to my M1009

6.5NA replacing 6.2 M1009 The 24 volt IP solenoids Shut off and Cold start advance under the cover need to be changed to 12 volt. I get that. Do the 12 volt ones for the 6.2 work? There is no external high Idle solenoid on the 6.5 for cold temps. No wiring or hole to bolt it on the bracket. It...

    6.2 to 6.5 Engine swap?

It seems the Gov. is getting rid of the hummer in large numbers now. There are several 6.5NA's out there many with low mileage. Never deployed. Since the 6.2 is no longer made and the 6.5 is newer these questions are good ones. Would probably make a good sticky.

    6.2 to 6.5 Engine swap?

The 6.5 header type exhaust manifolds look like they won't fit the M1009. They drop down to far in the front on both sides will hit the frame. To bad. The intake on the 6.5 has a tube that connected to a can filter. Plan to use a cone filter that will fit between the batteries. The Crank case...

    6.5 12volt questions

The nice header exhaust manifolds on the 6.5 won't fit the M1009 they extend out and down to far to clear the frame at the front of the manifold. I am sure the 6.2 intake will fit but found the simpler CV valve set up and the tube that fits on top will allow a cone filter between the batteries...

    6.2 to 6.5 Engine swap?

Will the Hummer 6.5NA exhaust manifolds fit in a M1009? Will the 6.2NA intake manifold work on a 6.5NA Hummer engine?

    6.5 12volt questions

Will the exhaust manifolds on a Hummer 6.5NA fit in a M1009? Does a 6.2 CUCV intake manifold fit the Hummer 6.5 NA?

    6.5 12volt questions

Thanks NDT, The M1009 I bought was Painted up but had virtually nothing serviced since it left the military. My fault as I bought it from Ebay. I called and asked the sellers about the truck. They made me think it was maintained and mechanically in as good a shape as it looked. These guys are...

    6.5 12volt questions

I will get a new water pump if the 6.5 has a serpentine belt so I can use the V belt set up on the 6.2.

    6.5 12volt questions

Yes I do. It has 48800 miles runs good. I was interested in a newer low mileage engine with a known history. Since hummers are being dumped by the Gov. I found one with no turbo, never deployed out of the country with 895 miles on it. Plan to sell the old 6.2. I hope the hummer exhaust manifold...

I don't know how this got separated from the 6.5 Hummer engine in CUCV but it is. I still could use help with these questions.

    6.5 12volt questions

6.5NA hummer engine in M1009 I just bought a NA 6.5 Hummer engine, I haven't received it yet. I have some questions too. My M1009 is 12v with a passenger side Alt. I know the water pump has to be changed if the 6.5 has a serpentine belt so I can use my V belt set up. I read the temp/oil/...

    Surplus 6.5 Engines from Humvee's?

Thanks! I forgot to ask about the starter. If I have an electronic IP I will change to mechanical. I thought I read the fuel lines from the pump to the injectors are different too for mechanical verses electronic.

    Surplus 6.5 Engines from Humvee's?

Thanks Wheelspinner. I am just looking for the engine. Already rebuilt the rest of the drive line. Thanks to all for the info. I definitely am looking for a GEP NA 6.5. Thanks for the GEP oil pan info too. It looks like you can keep the 6.5 exhaust manifolds too you just have to have a muffler...

    Surplus 6.5 Engines from Humvee's?

Since the military is getting rid of the Humvee are there some surplus rebuilt engines out there. I want to replace my 6.2 with a 6.5 GEP converted to normally aspirated after it fails. Thought I would look for a deal and put it away for the future. I have looked but don't seem to see any. I...
