    Factory Fresh LMTV

That one was being used by a company contracted to build custom shelters. I wasn't clear whether he owned it or it was on loan. However, he did have two older trucks out front for sale. He was very "proud" of them at well over $20K ea.

Should be kinda fun. Wheeler Dealer is doing an episode on a Humvee on 2 Jan.

At best, the show is misleading as to the "real" process. Although, PD and FD get to take their pick of the crop, right?

    Wheelspinner's M1078

Congrats 'Spinner! You may also want to check the front hub and diff oil levels before towing. Don't want to burn up those precious spider gear reduction hubs on the tow home!

How do you convert the 11 digit VIN to 17 ? on FMTV

I believe they added zeros before my truck's VIN to fill in the spaces. I've had more trouble buying and titling a used Hyundai Sonata for my 15 year old son than I did with the M-1078. You may may want to try the main DMV office downtown Nashville. They were very helpful.

    TNriverjet's M1078 Thread

I have been thinking about the noisy drivers hub and bought a shim kit off thebay for $13. I decided to tackle hub removal today and check things out. Photos loaded in reverse order of disassembly. Sorry. Check out the wear/gear mesh pattern on the spiders It seemed to me they were not...

    new lmtv owner

Email inbound sir. I'm not totally electronics savvy either. I was fortunate to find a truck where everything works... I'm guessing the learning will come as maintenance and upgrades take place.

    LMTV cab latch

I tried putting some grease on the latch mechanism, but it did not seem to help. Has anyone had any luck lubricating the pin so it retracts better?

Anybody have a M1078 I can test drive in Phoenix area ?

It's likely you've driven something with air brakes, but that dynamic can be a surprise too. I feel the LMTV has one of the more responsive systems I've driven. If you plan ahead a bit the myriad of gears will slow you down nicely. The truck can really be a comfortable ride, albeit without stock...

    M1078 Cold Starting & Ether?

I got mine started this morning in the lower 20's. I had to do about 5 short crank cycles to get her started... I left it run a while and then ran some errands. I ended up at Tractor Supply and found one of these...

I've got the NOS tachs if you need one. See link in my sig below. Also, there's a few older threads with really good instructions on how to wire these up. Here is a link to one of the threads. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?153495-hmmwv-tachometer-installation&highlight=Tachometer

    M1078 Cold Starting & Ether?

The ether cylinder is mounted near the cab lift hydraulic pump inboard of the spare tire. I have one in there, but believe it to be empty.

Great looking paint job! Also, thanks for the follow up info on your green paint mixture. I really like the looks of it. Thankfully, mine already has a good camo paint job.
