    new lmtv owner

Welcome from Tennessee and another M1078 owner! There's a lot of good info and helpful folks here. You will learn lots by reading in the FMTV/LMTV forum section. Please upload some photos when you get your truck home!

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Mark, Have you tried a bit of heat? Sometimes the hot wrench is the best option for loosening stuck parts. I know we are potentially dealing with rubber seals and such, but it sounds like you may be rebuilding all that anyway... Sometimes judicious application from a small propane torch can help...

M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

Priceless! I've received similar reactions. One guy jogging down the road gave me the double fist pump and salute. It is actually humbling for me to drive the M1078 since I never served, but I find myself thanking God for those who did! I'm glad you are enjoying the truck. It is really...

First time putting the truck to work

Very nice! I have dead pine tree I'm thinking of dragging over and away from the power lines... Side note, I found some good NOS military tow straps on the big e(auction)site. The 12' 44K straps have four loops that can be separated into two double loops and slip knotted together for a nice 24'...

    TNriverjet's M1078 Thread

I had a cup 'o Joe with my wife this morning... on the back deck. We talked about campers. :-P

    1995 M1081 Parts needed

I believe the labeling is all done with stencils and contrasting paint. There is a vendor here in classifieds that has some oil board stencil sets for sale. If your vehicle isn't listed I believe he will cut you a custom set.

    New to Me M998

Very nice rig! I thought of starting with a M998, but ended up with a M1078 instead. I'm like you and enjoy the truck with my family. Welcome aboard!

    m1078 recovery

Kswiney, what a great story! It's hard to believe you could win an auction and schedule pickup so quickly. I realize there is no EUC, but I think I waited almost two weeks on my generator just due to P/U schedule on the base. I'm glad you got home safe and are digging into repairs already. There...

    M1078 LMTV planetary hub setup

I'm going to have to take my noisy driver's side front apart to check and wondered if we could collectively get two items archived for future reference. 1. Steve6x6x6, can you loan out or have more of the hub clearance tools made for sale? 2. We need a definitive source for the shims with part...

I, for one, would love to see pictures. Post up! nopics

    Need 12 volt DC source

Good point Suprman. He would probably want fused power. It would be cleaner to manage it that way rather than an inline fuse going to his accessory panel. Brings up a good point here. Can I use my Cat keyed power switch (yet to be installed) on the 24V side of the power supply to the PDP to...

    Need 12 volt DC source

I found some photos of the PDP online. One is upside down, but if you zoom in, you can see the 3 power lugs. Again, they are labeled as 12V, 24V, and Ground. You would connect your wires to ground & 12V for your application.

    Need 12 volt DC source

Yes, there are 3 threaded lugs. One ground... Then a 12V and 24V lug. On my truck, the 12 and 24 lugs have a plastic cover on them. I don't have a photo, but can get one when I get home Fri night. The three lugs are lined up on the left side of the panel and are labeled. If you release the two...

    Need 12 volt DC source

Do you think we are going to get a bunch of military guys away from abbreviations??? Short or otherwise, Good luck! Yep, one of the beauties of a LMTV is the availability of 12V or 24V right in the cab! Just like your PDP at the house, there is both 120 and 240 right behind the metal...

    M1078 Engine Fan Issue

Often they can be found on the e(auction)site... None there today. Several vendors here probably have them. Eastern Surplus (SS vendor)has NOS fan clutches on their site. Also check with SS vendor suprman. Maybe SS vendor recksmilparts too

Please identify where this is supposed to get reconnected

That looks like the ether injection for cold start assist. It should go towards the back of the engine and to a small fitting at the bottom of the ether injection port. The ether canister sits between the spare and the air/hydraulic pump.

    Lmtv m1078 questions.

For the OP, there is tons of good reading here in this FMTV forum section. I would suggest spending some time reading through Mark's "working on" thread linked on page one of this thread. There is a lot of good information there. I also just started one and there are a few others. Door...

    FMTV/LMTV Steering Play Solved

Very nice find. I'll have to check mine. I did a tow-in alignment over the weekend that helped a bunch too. The steering wheel is even straight when driving straight now!

    Hello from Texas

Welcome from Tennessee. If you are like the rest of us, you will learn best by having a chunk of green iron in the driveway to tinker on. [thumbzup]

    Need (2) switches for dash

Check with SS member suprman or m35adam for your switches. They both have parts trucks.
