    Shout out to Gunzy

It wasn't too bad. With the steering wheel tied off it broke a bolt on the shackle/towbar mounts so we chose to untie the wheel and see what it would do. As Valence said we only had one instance of the wheels turning the wrong direction and that was going through a dip at a right turn. Dan then...

    5 ton winch interchangeable

I have never seen a releif in the M939 series radiator. But there is a releif in the forward crossmember on the M939series truck.

Does the odometer reading mean much on the old HMMWVs at Gov Planet auction?

Wear of paint is not a good one to judge by as many if not all military vehicles are stored outside for years and the paint can look really bad on a vehicle with only a few thousand miles. There truly are a lot of mil vehicles out there with VERY low miles. Yes, they change speed/odos in them...

need alignment advice. Got alignment. Now have Death Wobble. What to do?

I would set the total toe at 1/16 toe in and redrive. If the death wobble is gone, then you are done. The 1/16 toe in is to acommidate for rolling resistance of the tires which has a tendacy to make the front tires toe out when driving. 0 would give a toe out during driving as a result of...

M931 - Electrical issue when trying to start

Need to know exactly what wires. That connector/recepticle is for diagnostics only and unless you have the tester you will probably never use it. You obviously have something shorted(power to ground) that is not curcuit protected. I would try to trace what wires burned to their origin and see if...

    questions about m923a1

I agree, if it is as advertised that is a real good deal. I would go look at it and if it is that nice buy it. My boss just sold an M925A2 without troop seats or cover for $14400.

New Guy - Winch and other questions M925a2

Ddmk18 is correct in telling you to "excersize" the valve. Also make sure the drum lock is disengaged. You would also do well to read through the operators manual if you haven't done so yet.

New Guy - Winch and other questions M925a2

Hydraulics, P/S and trans all take 10wt engine oil and that is what I am using without any problems. You can use Hydraulic gear oil in winch system. P/S can take P/S fluid or hydraulic gear oil. Check your trans fluid, if it is red it is Dexron/Mercon, if it is clear/yellow it is 10 wt.

This stuff is actually in the Museum at Hill AFB. With some luck that is where it will stay.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

OK, I feel dumb now as I never thought of that.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I put compressed air into the fuel tank to help get the fuel to flow. You need to plug the tank vent too.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finally got my spin on fuel filter kit on. Priming was a pain but it now works fine. My M923 has a metal line from the tank to the OE filter assy. so I chose to leave it in place and use it to strap the new rubber hose to. Only took about and hour to install.

    Visited Hill AFB, Ut museum.

I was at a car show there last Saturday and checked out some equipment on display. I know what the HML is and the M915s. I also know what the trailers do but have no idea od the designations. But I don't have a clue as to what the crew cab Autocar is. Any help on designations and use would be nice.

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

Welcome stanzuray, here are pics of my '86 M1031 contact truck which is what yours is. The throttle actuator on the engine is for the 12KW generator in the back. The gen runs from a PTO on the transfercase and uses the actuator to maintain 1800 RPM under all electrical loads. There is also a 3...

    M923 NHC250 Ether Pressure Switch

Depending on the pressure you could run a line to the dash and install a fuel pressure guage there if it is rail pressure.

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

The M1031 may actually have only 7548 miles. There are several ways to tell. Cleanliness of engine, engine bay and trans, take a look at the pedals as 100k+ will show a lot of wear, and look over the bottom of the truck closely. A truck with 100k+ miles will look the part, even from the...

    Trailer safety!!!!

In the second pic it appears that they are reattaching it to the truck. Unless they are inspecting the connection, what are they doing?
