My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

I used some stuff by VersaChem called Prime Seal Gasket Sealer. Put it on the threads, assembled everything like I wanted it and let it sit and dry for a day or so. Knock on wood, I have not had a leak yet. Stuff works pretty darn good and I believe I got it from the local NAPA store.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

The 1009 is running well and still looking great. You did great work and it shows. I still haven't figured out the gas gauge, but time has been in short supply this summer. I will get to that and tightening up those belts a bit more over the new two or three weeks. I want to get with you...

    Squealing Belt Question

M1009 - Stock set up, all new belts. My question is this: All warmed up, she doesn't squeal. If I start her after she has been sitting for a while, or over night, in any weather, I will get belt squeal. Now, here is the quicker. They only squeal while the alternators are charging and the...

    Horn Issue

I had a few issues with my horn. Purchased a rebuild kit (spring, rod and something else) from NAPA. Cheap and it was an easy fix.

looking for behind the bumper winch setup on cucv

Ilikemtb999, I like your install, nice and clean. How much ground clearance did you loose, if any? It looks like the winch hangs down a bit below the bumper.

    Cold weather 09 CUCV

rsh4364 - An idling diesel won't make much heat at all. Need to put a load on the motor (like drive around) for her to warm up.

    Where's the HEAT !!

I will be checking the blend door and coolant levels tomorrow. I do realize that highway speeds and single digit temps aren't the M1009's best environment. As for the Spector Premium heater core, I used that and did a replacement in my other 09 and, although different (smaller), it did work great.

    Where's the HEAT !!

Those are the ones. I got them when they went on clearance after last Christmas for $7.99. They work great !

    Where's the HEAT !!

So, I had brought my oldest son's tractor down from NH to have a friend do some extensive work on it. Since that storm was headed for us I wanted to trailer it back up to him before all this snow came down so he could plow the driveway instead of having to shovel the 14" by hand (it is a long...

Best guesses at a restored m1009's value in 2018 and beyond

Rust free is where it is at and in the long run those will be the most prized vehicles. I am just a beginner and so far I have had only two M1009's. One turned out to be very rusty, but cleverly covered up. In 2 short years the rust returned, with a vengeance. I just sold her to someone...

Hi Rick, Happy Thanksgiving ! Yup, that gauge is pegged hard over. It just did it one day. I was hoping it was an easy fix, but nothin seems easy these days.
