    Just bought a MUTT

You have either a Titan or a Growler which was a knock off of the M151. The give away is they were made of heavier gauge steel, no axle or shovel holder, A-2 turn signals mounted on flat square fenders. The body itself will be more square as well.

    I picked up a new A2

According to the tag it's a M-825 not just an A-2. Here's a link from olive drab. http://olive-drab.com/idphoto/id_photos_m825rr.php

    poppop,s M37 restore thread

I want to make sure I understand what you wrote. So when I go to Carquest, all I have to do is ask them to mix up some PPG 42955 or Dupont 29149D and I'll get a close match to the original 23070?

    Bought an M151A2 today.

Nice find. The side drains put it in the 73 to 79 year. It's definetly an AM General because the A-2's that Ford produced had straight fenders and not arched. As far as the ROPPS, they really aren't necessary especially on an A-2. Even an A-1 will done fine without the extra weight, just...

How do you tell a Encore from a M151

Linsay, Looks as if you figured out the differences, I was just gave you the one visual. I know many guys who own original M151's that would like to own an Encore to use as a daily driver and trail jeep. The bodys are thicker gauge, better built and you don't risk beating up an original jeep...

How do you tell a Encore from a M151

Encores were made from heavier gauge steel. Also if what you are looking to buy is advertised as a M151-A2 the definete give away on appearance for an original A-2 will be the front fenders. The fenders will be dished for the turn signals on an original A-2. An Encore front fenders will be flat...

Did you ever resolve the issue with your warming up problem?

    This thing won't warm up!

Here is a link for an advance auto parts store that carry them for 5 bucks. It looks like there are a few stores in your area. You can also use a Gates P/N 33038 or Napa P/N 191. I have only used the Stant and Gates brand. Good luck...

    This thing won't warm up!

Here's something I found and thought I'd share it with you. http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/f327/warning-beware-murray-thermostats-240462.html BTW, this is the thermostat I'm using in my jeep. Stant P/N 13078, I hope this helps you.

    This thing won't warm up!

When you block the radiator it warms up to the 180 degrees. When you remove the cushion, does it fall back down to 140 degrees? If so, you have a thermostat issue. I agree with Rick and would use the Stant brand thermostat. There are only two things it could be, the temp gauge or thermostat. You...

    This thing won't warm up!

Have you looked at your temp gauge? Even though it indication 140 degrees, the engine could be at op temp. The quickest way to check is to get it running up to its 140 degree temp, as indicated on the gauge, than use a temp gun and take readings at the engine block, radiator, and bottom radiator...

My truck is one of the five that came from the same auction as yours. Mine was in the first row when you came through the gate and was back against the fence with another truck in front of it. I wonder where the other two trucks ended up.

goliath These trucks served with the air national guards communication squadron on the base. Did you drive yours home or trailer? I drove mine 208 mine to Missoula and had to leave it at my work because the transmission started slipping. I parked it and noticed a good leak coming out of the...

The truck runs and drives, I will be heading over this friday to put new batteries in it. if I don't get any takers I'll probably drive it home myself. I could...

    WA Weigh Stations

All weigh stations are commercial only. I'm not a professional driver but I do have a DOT medical and sometimes have to take a company truck cross country to deliver parts. The truck is commercial licensed and just over the 26K weight limit. Everytime I've went through the weight stations they...
