I went back and bought the truck

I want to start by saying thank you to all of you that helped me realize that I was wrong to think I should not buy a truck because it did not have a turbo. The truck I purchased is a 72 AM General M35a2 with winch The drive home took about 3:45 with no problems so I am happy for that. I was on...

    Almost bought a truck today

He wants 6k from what it sounds like that is a little steep. The trucks I have seen locally have been on the high side for price.

    Almost bought a truck today

I know that the turbo only adds 10/15 ho or so but it is not a matter of power as much as a matter of what I want. And in my opinion it is not financially feasible to add a turbo to this truck looking at parts coating about $1,000/$1,300. In the past I have settled on things that I knew I really...

    Almost bought a truck today

I went to buy a 72 deuce today it was in excellent shape with about 30k miles. It had winch, heat, air t case, spring seat, paint was nice, tires were in decent shape. Everything on the visual inspection turned out fine and I was really starting to think that this was the one not to mention that...

    Help me understand this

This is a cut and paste from Carnac’s historical thread. As discovered by D Doyle, there are numerous "series" of Kaiser/AM General trucks. In the case of the M35A2s, they are series 1 (S/N starts with 125) series 2 (S/N starts with 225), series 3 (S/N starts with 325), series 4 (S/N starts...

    Transmission install

when installing a transmission sometimes you need to get aggressive with the push and wiggle. I have never seen a manual transmission just slide in to place without a little persuasion.

    12 volt idea

I am talking about a voltage drop resistor some wire and a 12 volt battery. This is not some plan to make a over complicated system.

    M35a2 Squeaky brakes

Most all types vehicles have slight squeak on first movement from the surface rust from ambient moisture. I don’t know that you would be able to fix this concern.

Pros and cons of fdc bypass

What are the pros and cons of bypassing the fdc. Do most only bypass to fix problems or is it considered to be preventative maintenance. And finally does the bypass effect the ability to run different fuels

Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

I like how you are trying to victimize me when you have multiple people saying these vehicles are unstable and therefore unsafe to drive when all I said is in high stress situations you benefit from having training.

Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

If a particular person feels uncomfortable with driving their vehicle they SHOULD NOT be driving it. Or at least they should get to a situation where they are comfortable and gain the experience needed to become comfortable. Most people in accidents regardless of vehicle type are not emotionally...

Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

When making decisions that can effect your life and others it is your responsibility to make the right decisions. For example to say I will not wear a seatbelt just in case I roll my truck over and it will not crush me is not all that intelligent. Because if you get your truck in a position to...

    12 volt idea

Correct all you should need is the voltage drop resistor and a additional 12 volt battery. These parts are probably far cheaper out of a salvage yard than the commercially available units if one wants to take the time to install it.

    12 volt idea

Mazda cars with the i-eloop charging system have a voltage drop resister under the drivers seat. The factory alternator charges at 24/25 volts into a capacitor in the fender well. That capacitor then feeds the voltage drop resistor that can then safely feed the deep cycle 12 volt battery. They...

Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

my opinion is that the safety belt has saved far more lives than it has taken and it has also prevented far more injuries than it has caused. you do not have to use your imagination to know if i use one or not.
