    Steering Gear Box Help

I'm no motor head or mechanic really, so if I can do it, anyone can. I can read and watch YouTube, so if you can do that and have the tools and know-how, you can rebuild these. I bought an LRT-110 crane and rebuilt the swing gear box on that thing, and it was a monster, at almost 300 pounds...

    Steering Gear Box Help

Update: I guess this was the correct O-ring after all. After watching a few more videos, I got some new ideas. Again, the right tool for the job and knowing how to use it helps. I got two good pry bars, wedged one in on one side of the end cap, then wedged the other one into the opposite side...

    Steering Gear Box Help

I have rebuilt my steering gear box, but still have a small problem. I have it completely reassembled with the exception of the end cap. No matter what I have tried, I cannot get the cap to push in far enough to give me room enough to get the retaining ring into the locking grooves. I suspect...

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

This took some digging, but just in case anyone else runs into the same issue, I found a power steering box input shaft seal kit at Napa that matches the 5686526 seal. It includes the seal, dust cover, snap ring and the larger inner O ring seal as well for $11. Napa Part # NPS 7367. Evidently...

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

Ran into another issue with my rebuild. The stub shaft seal, dust cover and retaining ring that came with my kit is too small? The seal that came out appears to be 3.5cm wide, while the one that came with my kit is 3.2cm wide, so about .3cm too small, and dust cover is the same. Has anyone run...

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

Man, having the right tools for the job can make all of the difference. A 6-hour failure was a 30 second success with the Pitman Tool. lol I wasted a lot of time on that thing and only needed a $15 tool to make it a breeze. I buggered up the end of the shaft too, so I'm sure I will need to do...

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

They have a pitman arm tool at HB for $16. I will pick one up in the morning and give it a try. It looks like it would do the trick. The bearing puller would just a slip off, so the fixed arms might be the ticket. I didn’t realize they had a specific tool for this, so thanks for the suggestion.

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

I started on removing my steering gear box today. I have everything unbolted, but for the life of me, I can not get the shaft from the gear box to disengage from the pitman arm. I’ve heated it, tried a bearing puller, banged on it, etc. There has to bea better way than what I have come up...

    Are all good trucks gone?

I just bought a runner three weeks ago for $5,000.00. It was dirty and rough looking, but probably hasn't been cleaned and washed in years. I have cleaned it up and checked it out and the only serious issue it has is the steering gear box is leaking so bad it is dry in 10 mins, so I have ordered...

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

Is there a particular saginaw model, or do they all use the same rebuild kit?

    M1097A1 Steering Gear Box

The only major mechanical problem I have found on my new M1097A1 is that the power steering was not working. I filled it up with fluid and it started working but was very noisy. I think the noise was mostly air in the system, as the steering was working rather well for a about a mile. After a...

    Can anyone tell me

Are these things of any value? I'm probably going to remove the radio stand and these speakers. Will just toss them unless they have some value? Can they be wired into a normal radio or anything?

    Can anyone tell me

What these are? Just got a new Humvee and I know this is the radio station, but what are the two objects in the pictures?

Mine doesn't have that. Are those manuals for the 1097A2? If so, many thanks.

    Purchased a 2006 Humvee M1097R1 - Need Help

I still cannot find a single manual that says it is for a 1097A2 model? Maybe I just don't know enough about them to still understand the numbering. I hate to ask again, but can someone point me to the correct TM for service, maintenance and repairs for this model?
