Thank you. I'll put the old ones back in. The torque is 30-35 FT LBS correct?

    Starter bolt question, need advice

I had to replace the starter solenoid on my M1009 yesterday. It wasn't until I was done that I realized your supposed to replace the starter bolts too. None of the Chevy dealers had them, I ended up getting the GM ones off RockAuto. My question to you guys is would I be better off using...

Using a lubrication additive doesn't hurt too.

    M1008 w/83,000miles Good To Buy??

Make sure you check the harmonic balancer. The 6.2L had issues with them and some people don't know that so they never get checked and/or replaced. It can cause cracks in the block when worn out.

    New Southern CUCV projects....

Really nice job! I like the blue. Speaking of replacing rocker panels. I was quoted $250 a side including parts by the body shop across the street from my house. He does nice work and side he would do it on the weekend as a side "cash" job.

Looking for a squeal noise diagnosis.

Update! I'm pretty sure I found the problem. The squealer on the passenger side front inboard brake pad was doing it's job and squealing. The pad seems to be worn unevenly. So until I get the cash to do the breaks, I took the die grinder to the squealer just to see if it was the problem. I'm...

Looking for a squeal noise diagnosis.

So I dug into this Sunday looking for the mystery squeaking/squealing noise on my M1009. First, I shook down all the u-joints on the truck. I found the rear prop shaft joints to be tight and one of the fronts might have a little play. I’ll have to pull the shaft out to be certain. This...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Rear brake inspect, clean and adjust. Everything ok. Inspected front brakes and found out I need to do them soon. Still can't find my phantom squeeking noise. All my u-joints are tight, none have zerk fittings. I might replace them anyway.

M1009 rear axle in and out play

I know that a little in and out play in a c-clip axle, like the GM 10 bolt, is normal but how much is normal? Mine slides in and out maybe a 1/4" give or take a little. I looked in teh TM's and couldn't find what I was looking for. Please let me know what you guys think.

Rebuilding it would be your best bet.

Looking for a squeal noise diagnosis.

Subscribed. Not to hi-jack but, I've been having a similar issue. A really high pitched squeak/squeal noise that is a rotation noise coming from the passenger rear wheel I think. Mine's very intermittent and usually at highway speeds but sometimes does it at around town speeds. I'm...

    gp info.

Not having to give someone crazy detailed instructions on how to start your truck is really nice.

    gp info.

I have a manual button set up and AC 60G plugs. On a cold morning I do a good 15 second glow. After starting I post glow for 5 seconds on 5 seconds off, maybe twice, depending on how cold it is. I'm sick of the push button though. My truck came that way from the previous owner, he was too cheap...

    headlight upgrade

I'm doing the same. My headlight fuse is hanging on by a thread in the fuse box. I'm replacing the harness under the dash before I start upgrading headlights. I have had Silverstars before. They are nice lights.

    That's a bummer. Sorry.

    M1009 brake same as civy?

I was going to look them up by application but was unsure of the model year to go by. I know my truck is an 1985 but like you said they were all based on one model year to make part inventory more simple. The store I called is the place I usually go to for parts. I think the guy I talked to was...
