    CUCV no start.

I will make two statements here for anyone reading this now or in the future will which benefit all that have a newly purchased unknown rig. 1. Do not attempt to start these rigs until you have done the proper repairs/upgrades like replacing all the GP's, resistor bypass, starter solenoid fix...

    CUC/V Power Steering Gear box

The problem is most remans don't have a high enough quality control. So excessive wear on the gears is not too much of a concern. If it is shiny and holds fluid, it ships. It's a numbers game. With a lifetime warranty pitch, they make the sale at a lower price and hope that whatever junk you...

CUCV Glow Plug Controller cards - Black Friday Sale

Figures I just bought one a few days ago :/ Card was sent out super fast and very happy with the transaction. Can't wait to insert into the empty GP slot to see what happens!

Who has the most Kilometres/ Miles on their CUCV?

We should do the opposite thread...who has the least miles :) My M1031 had about 5k miles on it, truck looked brand new. My M1010 had 3600 miles on it and probably was never washed in the winter.

    M1010 ambulance box build reference

I'm not sure what you could off the shelf for prebent metal that will work but I'm sure you could fab something from a rectangular box steel tubing. I think all it does is lay on top of the side rails to support the weight like a header panel. I would pull the back upper skin off which should...

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

Most of my work up front will be converting the box over to a livable space along with the necessary mods to get the truck running under its own power. Right out of the gate I changed the starter relay, GP's, and GP solenoid. I am awaiting a new controller card but in the meantime the fuel...

M1010 Meat Wagon to RV conversion

The purpose of this build is to take the M1010 and outfit it into an all terrain RV that can haul my Samurai and sleds or serve as an expedition platform for any type of non-hardcore offroading. Part of this like any other old truck build involves starting at one end and working your way to the...

    M1010 ambulance box build reference

Here is the specifics on the rear steel support member that's in the ceiling. You can see that it a rectangular piece which makes no contact with the roof skin.

    Cucv upgrades.

I just got my alternators mounted up (a pair of 12v 160A Leece's) and haven't looked at belts yet. Someone must have put smaller belts on it because they were the same width as the stock Chevy belts and sit very far in the pulleys. Looking at what you have, I'm going with 1/2" belts since this...

Larger fuel tank for the m1009- Aero tank or Suburban tank

I think the tank dimensions for the 73' and later rigs are all interchangeable tank for tank, the filler neck is smaller on pre 85'ish models. I think they went from 1 1/2" to 1 5/8", I would double check the numbers though. LMC and RockAuto can confirm that. I believe the difference between the...

New Glow Plugs Installed; Starts Worse Than Ever

I never said I wanted to drive it that cold as it sounds like a grenade, it starts though no issue and no double glow cycles required.

New Glow Plugs Installed; Starts Worse Than Ever

So I have a fairly new IP, GP's, and batteries. I jump in, key on, wait light out, blip the key and it fires up everytime. I don't think I've ever held the key to the start position more than 2-3 seconds even in the coldest weather (follow the throttle pedal according to the visor). Your mileage...

700R4 Conversion -vs- Ring and Pinion Conversion 3.73

The TH400 is a great pretty much bulletproof transmission that works in many HD applications. Having said that, it is quite a turd performance wise for any normal day to day driving. It lacks gearing on the low end, no OD, and no lockup converter...very inefficient. Unless you are loaded at max...

    700R4 questions

If you parts start to get to expensive to mate that together, you may be better off sourcing a 700r4 with an NP241 tcase from a late 80's to 91' 6.2 diesel half ton like a burb or blazer. That way everything is there, all you need to do is rebuild the trans and install a new converter. Do a...

Nice purchase, does it glow in the dark? It looks like a runner! Get that ol' girl fired up before it gets too cold out.

    Cold Advance issues

I was taught to hand prop once. I always liked it as a Plan C. Plan A...use starter, Plan B...do I have to fly today?...Plan C...remember to pull back at end of stroke :)

    Cold Advance issues

I would verify that it isn't a GP issue. Sounds like you are not getting a short burst of GP like it should have which may cause those symptoms. Try manually triggering the GP's or verifying that you are getting the solenoid engagement before going any further.
