Taking it Apart Here is an update from Thanksgiving weekend: -It took one day to remove the sheetmetal, cab, & engine/tranny. Still to be removed is the front winch, transfer case, 5th wheel, fuel tank, etc. I still haven't gotten around to making a fork bucket for the JD crawler but it did...

    Identify this Cat! Please!

Our plan is to run an open exhaust that mimics the path of the stock plumbing. The turbo outlet is aprox. 5.8" dia. so we'll run a 6" pipe. I cant wait to hear it! Also with no fancy intake muffling, the engine brake should be making some thunderous farts! I agree that...

    Identify this Cat! Please!

Well despite everything I hope you make Aberdeen 09' as we intend to bring the finished product there. We were going to stick with the 5spd but we figured sometime in the future we'd have to pull the whole f'ng thing apart to "do it right." We also took into consideration that 1,450lb.ft...

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

Small update Hi, It was rainy & windy this past weekend so it was perfect weather to fiddle around with mechanicals. We're a little closer at mating the engine to the transmission. -Seperated 13spd. from old NTC-350 and pressurewashed -Removed clutch assembly from 350 -Removed aluminum SAE...

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

Buggyman, after searching for an hour on this site and the web I came up with nothing regarding the 6453's exact gear ratios. The Eaton site offers info for similar 5 & 6spds but nothing for Spicers. Although not exactly the same here are the Deuce's 3053A ratios so you get an idea of the...

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

We all should be commited  (catatonic)...... Yeah that makes perfect sense. That way you don't have to think about it and it operates like before. I'll be tearing the tranny apart to inspect this weekend. I thought I saw a reverse "ball" switch. I'll dig through the pdfs...

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

Buggyman said: "you seem to have this thing figured out!" I'd like to let everyone know that, NO I certainly don't have everything figured out! We have the big picture in mind but as you know all the little things have to be solved as they surface. Outstanding issues to resolve include...

    M919 mixerless

How is the mixer driven? Seperate engine or is it PTO? How many cu. yds. is it rated to hold? Are you going to stretch the frame? It seems you'd run out of room (volume) before you exceeded its weight capacity. Very cool project. Can't wait to see how the mixer was removed.

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

Here are some pics of us taking home the donor truck: 1973 Brockway 361 (don't worry Brock fans, every part of this truck except the bent & cracked frame has been recycled.) We still have the NTC350, sliding 5th wheel, etc.

    M819 RECEIVES NTC400!!

UPDATE: Wow rizzo, that idea never entered the brain. Hmmm. Interesting concept. However that would require a rise of 4-5" affecting all sorts of things..... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- QDR update: With the engine still laying on its...
