The crappiest dual rear wheel ford gasser with the appropriate gearing is like 15000+ towing. Which ought to be plenty for a deuce, most likely this is a diesel rated at 18000+ or a 450 rated at 24000+.
You people mock him, but its a LINCOLN TOWN CAR.
Lets look at the specs:
Ford V8. Around 200 hp with a bit less that 300 ft/lb of torque.
Body on frame.
Steel Construction. Curb weight is between 4000 and 5000 pounds
Rear wheel drive. I think it has a Ford 9 inch solid rear axle.
Large...
Replaced the speedometer today with a new one from boyce, works like a champ now. Went ahead and replaced my rigged up flashers with the correct military signal module while I was at it, also works like a champ.
Judging from some of the threads I came across in searching I'm leaning towards my issue being a problem with the actual speedometer, I just wanted a second opinion before I drop 30$-50$ on one.
Sometimes my speedometer is fine, sometimes it isn't, lately it's more wrong than right. You'll be...
I insured 6 vehicles through Allstate including my Deuce, I switched to Statefarm to save 2000$ and they already insured 2 other deuces in my area. When it came to mine it threw a red flag and they reevaluated what the vehicle was. They eventually insured it, but they had to rewrite the other...
Mine was 7000$ with:
fresh green paint
six reasonable quality 15.5 Michelins
fresh oil and filters, fluids checked
a half tank of diesel
little rust
a heater
hardtop
air engaged xfer case
all gauges working
vinyl camo cargo cover
bows
troop seats
lights working.
I drove this deuce 26 hours from...
Uhh, I heard the A3 was slower do to the lack of an overdrive transmission?
Also isn't it a 4 speed? So less gears with the final gear at 1:1?
I imagine the bigger tires on the A3 make up for it. But I have 15.5s on my A2 with the OD tranny.
Mine locks up from time to time like, once every few months, if I leave the truck sitting. Even with all the fittings greased and it oiled down. It just happens. I always just chock the wheels and bash the brake with a rubber mallet, sometimes I use my arm on the brake arm to get it free...
Where are you guys getting cheap brake shoes? OD Iron has them for 25$ for one or 48$ for 2. At 6 wheels thats about 300$ for shoes all the way around with shipping and such... Half the price of a 600$ GL truck or a tenth of the price of a 3000$ private seller truck. Is there a cheaper source...
The 5 tonners weigh 20000#s just sitting there looking angry. Technically if you registered it for the very minimal carrying capacity it's 4000 pounds past the point of needing a CDL.
Texas however doesn't actually seem to care about weight as long as you aren't hauling things for money, or...
GVWR is Curb weight + carrying capacity. You take it to a scale and have it weighed, the carrying capacity is probably 1.5 tons offroad since they generally use an M-105 bed and M-105 or M35 Front Springs.
It's bowl shaped, about 5" across.
It's raining today so I don't really wanna mess with the trailer today, I'll deal with tomorrow and check that phone number.
I checked the classifieds, OD Iron, and Saturn Surplus, and I can't seem to locate a source for replacement air diaphragm for my M105A2's master cylinder. I took it all apart because I heard it leaking air, and there's a crack in the rubber.
The part number is "Midland 2340" google searching...
I agree with stumps to a point. If oil additives were good one shot fixes for everything, they would be mandated by law. I wouldn't put Lucas in my sealed for life 4.0L VVT V6 in my Toyota 4x4, it likes light weight 5w30 or 0w30 for less resistance on finely machined parts and higher fuel...
It's really hard to get a hold of diesel motorcycles as far as I can tell. The military sucks up all the ones produced by the few companies that make them. I was looking for one too but ended up settling for a dual-sport gasser.
