A defective hydro-boost may be letting the vacuum suck the fluid into the motor's intake system.
If this is happening, sometimes smoke will be visible from the exhaust pipe when the brake pedal is pushed with the truck at idle, but not always.

The date will probably be the next line below the contract number.
I can't read an actual date from your photos, but it appears there is something below the contract number.

I pulled my Jeep CJ5 many times with a towbar behind an M35.
I used a towbar that I made out of the drawbar from a military trailer. It is about 4-5 feet long, giving a gentle slope down to the CJ's bumper.
Worst thing is not being able to see if the towed vehicle's front wheels are straight...

Early 1990's body, with modified Ford bed with two wheel wells I think.
I don't recall if he kept the multi-fuel or repowered it.
