DMV's are horrible places to go. My question to the OP was if your willing to spend that money on a truck that comes with a "clear" SF-97 or even a title for that matter why not buy local? I get it, it won't be a Marine truck with stock a/c. But you could have avoided all this by getting a clean...
I'll have to beg to differ on this. CL is the way to go if you want something quick, but you'll pay for it. The nice thing about CL is you can inspect everything, drive it, make notes about things you like or dislike, and the possibility they have it titled. Like I said you pay for this luxury...
We're not the easiest to get along with but I believe you did the best job you could. Thanks for all you did!
Any ideas what vehicle you might choose when the time comes?
Welcome to the forum. Biggest thing to learn about forums is the search feature. I can't stress enough about trying to use that before make numerous threads. The likelihood someone has asked the same question already and has a handful of suggestions is probable.
On the issue of hard starting...
My turn to join the party. I won a MEP-831a yesterday out of Bragg. There was a couple of them up for grabs and I landed one for a good deal, but I guess we'll find out. Should I be worried with a unit with higher hours?
This could only be me but I pitched a tent down by the railroad tracks and the facilities by me had no hot water. Anyway to get that baby fired up for this event so I don't have to trek all the way up the hill to use the other one.
I needed one for my LMTV and had a local shop make a template in cardboard then got one cut out in one piece aluminum and had it spray canned. All in was $120.
Ive driven my LMTV empty and another one with a s280 on it and you can feel the difference. The biggest difference is the air hitting the front of the box slowing you down and secondly you'll feel it during the turn because the CG is higher. The box doesn't have all its weight in the bottom...
The housing is deff cracked so I have sourced a good used Cat 3116 front mechanical housing Part#7E-6366 for $200 shipped. I'm not going to repair the one on there as I would rather have a good one without issues. My next thing is to find a way to support the compressor properly to avoid this...
I am back after a couple months "off" with vacations and traveling. I needed to take a breather from it all after this crazy trip. As of right now the truck is in the backyard with the driveshafts off once again. Kfrosty came with his 5 ton and pulled my truck home from Greensboro, many thanks...
Nice truck man, and welcome to the club. This club requires many hours spent reading the TM's over and over again, then grabbing a beer, reading the SS boards and staring at the TM's again until it make sense. All in all, the club is a lot of fun.
I'll have to make a trip up there to come...
s-280 shelters were designed to be mounted on an LMTV with a perfect fit. I would be weary on picking a box higher than that unless you take the bed off and mount it directly to the frame.
