I didn't really think to use the wood for structure until someone brought it up. This will be towed with my F150 ecoboost and LMTV. The front attachment will be a c-channel where you can mount a pintle or a normal 2 5/16" (adjustable height). Loaded weight (including trailer weight) will be...
Thanks for the advice on the floor boards.
I planned on replacing the brackets that support the axle. The spring perch is inches away from the brake flange, which is inches away from the wheel hub. The tire sits closer to the inside rail than it does to the outside.
See attached. I hope this shows how far the A-frame goes into the frame, it's not very far. If making the A-frame wider and bringing it to the rails and down the frame will be the biggest improvement I'll make it happen. Also someone mentioned axles, mine are very narrow as you can see in the...
EDIT: T-chan is actually an I-beam. Sorry for the confusion.
You are correct with the c-chan. I think what gimp recommended will be the biggest structural improvement by extended the a-frame to the sides and have it come further down the trailer. I just took two pictures of it and will upload...
The A frame for the tongue does not go all the way back. In the third picture you'll see a box in the middle/front that doesn't have a center support and that's the only point that attaches to the a frame. I can extend it by taking it out to the sides. Trailer was hand built, dual 3500# axles...
I picked up a trailer and started to strip it down to strengthen the frame, redo the axle, add brakes, and redo all the wiring. The first thing I need to figure out is how to strengthen the frame. Before taking it apart you could sit on the corner and the trailer would flex more than I want...
Funny you bring that up. I replaced my original box with a newer KDS and the wait light doesn't stay on long enough. If I crank when the light goes off it's a hard start, but if I watch the volt meter and wait for the cycling to stop it fires up right away.
I have some HMMWV shocks, two medium tow bars & a tan generator cover. I also have the cover frame from my LMTV that is for sale. This is the steel version that slides into each other.
Only have one S-280 shelter left and it's mounted on a M720.
Went down to Columbia yesterday to pick up Mike's M103-A3. Got all my lights hooked up and also had to extend the safety chains. Everything went smooth with the extended pintle adapter I put on the F150. Trailer was super easy to pull without any issues. Sat on the highway at a cruising speed of...
M813rc, went to the local hobby shop and picked up a black glue bottle with the fine tip and a sharp blade cutter to get the pieces off and to clean them up. So far so good, thanks for all the recommendations.
Got the S280 glued up. The shelter will be all the same color so I will paint it when I paint the truck and trailer. Started cutting the M1082 pieces out last night.
Good mods. The ones I did to my M1081 are somewhat similar. I put lights in mine but they are push button only and SUPER bright LED's. I see you put in a 12volt outlet and I did that too with a 12v USB/Volt gauge/outlet combo. I need to get a keyed ignition!
I am local to you and have three if you want to check them out. The wall are riveted on both sides with a polyurethane foam core. It's pretty well insulated and would make a good platform for a camper. As for the windows you need to make sure the thickness of the window and the thickness of the...
